I am an Asian-American female student who is currently a senior in high school (c/o 2008) about to apply to the following UCs: Berkeley, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Davis. I am wondering what my chances are of getting into those schools.

- I have a 4.47 College weighted GPA, 3.81 weighted. I am ranked 2 of 415 in my school.
- I was the historian, vice president, and I am now currently the president of my school's KEY (Kiwanis Educating Youth--a community service organization) Club, and I am the president and founder of my school's Zinch Flavor (www.zinch.com).
- My test scores (this is what worries me)... SAT: 1820, ACT: 27 (I got a 31 in math. Science brought me down.), SAT II: Math 2 - 620, Literature - 590. I am retaking the SAT in December, and I retook the SAT IIs two weeks ago.

I wrote my personal statements, and they are pretty good.

What do you think?

According to Engle Superman represents a religious symbol. Engle believes THAT superman is a visitor from “heaven.” His appearance is like an angel with his cape which echoes its curve like angel’s wings. His name has a virtuous meaning “all that is God” and “I have found a son.” Engle believes that superman is the American guardian who can serves as a secure “nonsectarian” focus for religious response, mainly among young. In relationship, however, American society generally does not recognize sacred icons because its diverse religious beliefs would cause different and opposing religions views.

I am interested in the los angeles city college. A plus is I will be able to warm up to the "big city" before pursuing my career. (My ambition is to be a great song writer/composer and performer, I sing, play piano, and violin btw.) Also, I have a better chance of getting into a great music school like ucla or usc afterwards. However, the only family member I have near L.A. might be moving to fullerton, and that's about an hour drive! However, I heard that the fullerton community college is great as well! So if any of you can give me your opinions on these schools, or if you know of even better community schools, it will be much appreciated. Thanks alot!!

I have a paper due in DECEMBER. And I am completely confused about what to write it on.
1. Select one of the generals who fought during the Civil War in the _mytown__area. Research how he came to be involved and what his contribution was. Finally, explain the impact he had on the Civil War as a whole.
2. Research a current medical issue, write a detailed analysis of the issue, and discuss the possible actions society needs to take to deal with the problem.

Which one would you choose... I'M indecisive

I got a 2190 on my SAT's, which is pretty good, but i'm not sure if i can get into the Ivy League schools with that. My gpa's around a 3.8-3.9. I have several extra-curriculars, which includes the president of a community service club at my school. I'm in CSF (california scholarship foundation), spanish club, and in the school band. I ran a food bank at my school, and won a silver award for it from the county. I was also on the Homecoming court at my school, for homecoming queen. Is this enough to get me into Harvard? Or maybe any other Ivy League schools? I'm also an administrative assistant at a nearby office, and have been working since i was 14. I don't know if that'll factor into my chances of being accepted though. Any comments are appreciated, thanks!

Also, if you need any more info, just ask =)

hey folks,

i was wondering if it is normal to change major in college. I am currently majoring in CIS (Computer Information Systems) and i don't feel i am in the right place. I have grown up with computers all my life. for me this class is really slow and yes i have consulted with teacher asking if i can give exam and move to more challenging course. She told me i can't because they are required classes. On the other hand...i am planning to major in a career that requires hands on activities. Specifically in technological field such as engineering.

Would really appreciate your help :)
Thanks!

Over the summer I'd been looking into a design college in Chicago. We currently live in Tennessee, but I want to go to college in Chicago because I love the city, I have friends there, and it's a great commercial area for the field I want to get into. My dad works at Vanderbuilt University and his job offers a tuition benefit to me and my sister for college, but the benefit doesn't take effect until 2011. My dad wants me to wait two more years (I've been out of school for almost half a year already) to go to college because by then the benefit would take off a lot of the tuition cost. But I don't want to put off my college education that long, and my parents are refusing for me to take a student loan in fear of getting myself into debt. I'm 19 and I want to start living my life now, I've never done anything to them where they wouldn't trust me. I feel like my parents don't understand. Are they being selfish, or am I? I would really appreciate any advice.

So my major is accountancy, and I am starting college 2008 Spring semester(didn't go to first semester after graduate). I was wondering, what classes are required for my major? And what classes should I take? instead of wasting money on classes that doesn't help me with this major.

- I've always loved Marine Biology (one of my favorite subjects of all times), almost everything in it, but requires lots of chemistry and my chemistry is so terrible and i don't like chemistry that much.

- Math, get decent grades, but it's just an okay subject. Nothing special about math.

- History, i love learning history, but i don't find the careers linking to it that interesting.

So which one do you think I should go for? Anyways, how do you decide what course to take at university?

Wow, I got so far and now I'm screwed. My mom has no assets so she cannot fill them out, we'll that's what she claims. My dad has bank accounts and assets up to $300,000. He does not want anything to do with the applications and refuses to even look at them. I cannot fill them out, I'm only 18. I don't know what to do... I can't go to university without financial aid, its to expensive. My parents were going to pay the Expected Family Contribution but now they have reneged. What should I do? Please help...
