I'm planning to go to one of the UCs. How many credits must a student complete as a undergraduate each year to graduate within 4 years? I think it's 36, but I'm not sure...Websites will be helpful ^^

Depends on the degree requirements... for a four year degree you could expect between 120 to 130 credits.

Most courses are three credits... sciences like Bio, Chem, A&P and upper level math courses are generally four credits.

You'd need to complete between 15 to 18 credits per semester to complete your degree within four years.

Most colleges / universities will only accept a set amount of transfer credits. AP courses taken in high school are considered transfer courses. Check with the college you're interested in applying to. They may accept no more than 30 to 35 undergraduate credits for transfer. You would need to do at least ten AP courses with a score of three or better...

Depending on your AP scores they may award you more credits for a hight score, ie. AP score of three in Bio may only get you an equivalent of BI 101 for four credits, and a score of four or five could earn you a BI 101 & BI 102.

Hope this helps.

It all depends on the school...at my school about 45 credits is a junior so you need more than 36 credits to transfer it. Basically though..it is going to be close to impossible to accomplish that goal with scheduling that many AP's and then passing the tests to a school's requirments for placement. But, another option is to just do more work during your years in school. I only transfered 8 credits into college and right now I am a sophomore and I havn't really taken that many classes, but at the end of this school year I will be a senior....so I could easily graduate a year early.

But, honestly..I can't understand why you want to miss 2 year of school. College is the greatest time I have ever had and have had so many opportunities to do research...AMAZING!

you must complete 30 semester hours per year to graduate in 4 years.

Two years of college is 60 semester hours. That's 20 classes. You'd need about 20 passed AP exams to get that much credit.

You can also use other exam formats - CLEP, DANTES, ECE, etc...

Most schools will limit the credit by exam to about 30 hours but some schools have no limits; you just need to check with the college. Also, all schools don't accept all exams.

Give it a try, I've known some people to gather significant hours by exam. Every hour you don't have to take in class is money saved.

Depending on your score on AP tests, you can get credit for 2 semesters of classes. You really need to visit with your guidance counselor because they will have the info you need.
