- I've always loved Marine Biology (one of my favorite subjects of all times), almost everything in it, but requires lots of chemistry and my chemistry is so terrible and i don't like chemistry that much.

- Math, get decent grades, but it's just an okay subject. Nothing special about math.

- History, i love learning history, but i don't find the careers linking to it that interesting.

So which one do you think I should go for? Anyways, how do you decide what course to take at university?

#1 Decide why you are going to college. You are already thinking about a career. Stick with that thought.
#2 Examine the work content of various careers to see what looks best, what they pay, work conditions, etc. You are doing that, too.
#3 Pick a career.
#4 Examine the requirements for that career - education and other requirements. You have done this for marine biology.
#5 Decide if you are willing to make the sacrifice to get the education needed for that career. Example: Are you willing to work very hard now to get good grades in chemistry so you can be a marine biologist for a lifetime? If you will not do what is required for this major, go back to #3 and choose again. I'm not sure if you have fully considered this question. It sounds like chemistry will be somewhere between difficult and impossible for you. Have you balanced the sacrifice (work) now against a lifetime of the career you want?

None of us can give you very good advice about what you actually choose, but we can lay out the choices.

I decided by reading over program lists on the websites of universities, and finding something that tickled my fancy.

Seems like Marine Biology is right for you. It sounds like you would really enjoy that career, so chemistry may be a necessary evil. Tough it out, get your degree, and then you can live your dream job!

You can also tie history into this in certain ways. If you're like me, then it's not necessarily the actual material (Wars, ancient civilizations, politics, etc) that interests you in History...it's the feeling of learning about the past, and understanding the world as it once was. The oceans have a history all their own; ancient species that once thrived and are now gone, the ever changing coral reefs, the thousands of ships that have been claimed by the seas (some from wars, others treasure ships...all have fun stories!), etc.

Look through the Major program requirements. Pretty much all colleges will lay out what classes you typically take for any given degree. See if you can find some where the classes spark your interest. Or go talk to a counselor, they're paid to answer questions such as these.

And if you're just starting out in college, you still have a while before you need to officially declare a major. So just take your basics while you're figuring everything out. Things like English, History, Math, stuff like that.
