Will being an out-of-state student affect my chances of getting into a college? If so, will it affect me positively or negatively? I've heard answers from both ends of the spectrum, but I would like to hear more opinions on this matter.

Do you have to be in the Gifted and Talented Education (G.A.T.E) to get into an Ivy League University with a scholarship? What if you have straight A's, AP classes, extra curricular activities, community service hours, etc.; but you are not in G.A.T.E. ?

DOES THAT MEAN YOU CANT GET A SCHOLORSHIP TO ANY IVY LEAGUE COLLEGE?

Is it true, that with the exception of some professions, like the medical field, it doesn't matter what degree you have when it comes time to get a job? A couselor told me that what counts more than that is the job experience you have. She told me that they she's known of music majors and art majors that go into the corporate world because of the jobs they have had on campus.

Is this true? I'm thinking of majoring in Art because of my visual spatial ablities, and because it's one of my true passions, but what scares me is the job prospects after I graduate. However, if it's true that what matters more besides your degree is job experience, then that means that I don't have to worry....right?

I was thinking about attending Strayer University because they offer evening classes that work with my busy schedule. I would like to attend a state college but the cost and the schedule is a bit more harsh. Does anyone know if this is a good college or is it a waste of time like those fly by night colleges you always hear about on the radio. You know the ones that tell you will earn $90,000 dollars once you graduate due to high demand. I do not want to apply for a job and people laugh at the college I attended because its not the most prestiguos college. Thank You

He is going to the English language institute at my university to learn english as a second language, after that I am motivating him to get his GED. He already finished High school in Mexico but he needs to take the GED exam. After taking his GED I want him to apply to my university. He really wants to study and graduate, its been his long life dream. He would be around 46yrs old when he graduates is it too late? or extremely difficult? Im a sophomore at college already and I would help out my dad all I can. Will employers consider my dad? he wants to study something in electricity or history. Thanks.

I want to study engineering. I have an ACT score of 26, and SAT score of 1770, and lots of extracurriculars.
I really don't know where to go to college.

I've been taking dance lessons for 10 years, singing for 4 years, i was involved in 4 clubs in high school, including NHS, i've organized two charity drives which have made a lot of money, i was an intern at NIH, was in a biotech summer camp, was a finalist for a vocab bee twice, won first place for singing competition twice...and more.

can i get into the university of maryland (college park)? what other colleges can i get into? i know that both my GPA and SAT scores suck.

I am currently entering Grade 11. I live in Canada and I will be going to the U.S for College.

What I wanted to know was do I need to take the SAT to get into College in the U.S or am I excused from it because I am Canadian?

A guidance chancellor at an American University told me I would be excused from taking the SAT because I'm Canadian.

What I want to know is if in Canada we have an equivalent to the American SAT. Or are we simple excused from it when applying to U.S University's or do we have an equivalent test here that I just dont know about?
