I had such a tough 1st semester back in college this summer & became homeless because of domestic abuse & then found my new apartment. As a result, my performance in school was very poor. She gave me a "D" instead of an "F" since she knew I tried the hardest I could under the pressure I was under.

It's like trying to lift weights & the more you try to lift, the harder it gets. I'm making an analogy of lifting weights to handling stress.

Both my parents did not go to college. I plan on studying in engineering, but of course that's nothing final. My colleges of choice are UC Berkeley, LA, and I can dream for MIT. Currently, I have a 4.0 GPA and I next year (Sophomore) I am taking English II Honors, World History, AP Chem, Algebra II Honors, and Mandarin (III) Honors. I am in Cross Country and Track/Field, and I plan to continue with these all four years. I am in my school's robotics club, but honestly the club has been quite dead and I am not so interested in it, so I don't know whether I should continue in it. I am also part of the drill team at our school, and have 'commanded' as a color sargeant and other roles. Does that count as a 'leadership' role colleges look for? What I'm worried about are things such as summer programs that colleges look for. Going to COSMOS like one of my friends did in his junior year doesn't seem like something I would do.

out of state public university, that you will only have to pay in-state tuition for that school? cuz otherwise they'd just be giving you money you'd just have to give back? I heard this from a relative and it'll make my college search a lot easier. So if anyone has an answer, maybe with a webpage with more details, i would greatly appreciate it!

What my question is will my past conviction of manufacturing marijuana (10 plants which is the lowest felony possible in Oregon) keep me from being an Xray tech or a respiratory therapist. Please no lectures. I know what I did was wrong but it was a LONG time ago. Thanks to those of you in advance for a straight answer.

i sent in my HS transcript which had grades from freshman to senior first semester, with that i got accepted into St.Johns University. Because everything was done and all i started slacking off badly and ened up with a 70 average and even had to go to summer school. I didn't tell stjohns about this and i paid my tuition and everything. And now i got a letter saying that wanted my final transcript and my graduation date, so now i have this horrible average and im not even graduating on time, i will be graduating on august. If send in this horrible paper will they maybe cancel my fall term?

I'm looking at getting a joint honors degree in Math and either Philosophy or CS. I get very good grades in Math & Philosophy, but I'm worried about employment. I haven't done much CS. I would like to eventually get a masters, but I'm not sure what good a masters in Philosophy would do me, since I'm not planning on becoming an academic...

Pros & cons? Thoughts?

I currently have a 3.9 GPA and a 1900 on the SATS. I have also been taking AP courses (and passed). Realistically, how am I doing for someone who wants to get into UC Davis? And how much do I need to raise my GPA and SAT score to improve my chances?

i am dissatisfied with my current college course and wish to shift to a course i find much more attractive, namely fine arts. the school i'm studying in is regarded the best school in the country, and its fine arts program is a reputable one, having produced 9 national artists.

to get in, i'll need to take a talent test. although i'm quite confident in my abilities, i'm aware there's a chance i WON'T pass. i have two options thereafter. option a entails sticking it out in my current course and continue taking the talent test for n number of years until i get in and finally benefit from the best art education there is. and that could take YEARS. some students there have been around for 8-9.

option b entails transferring to another college, my old school, which offers education up to college. it's a top school as well, but can't hold a candle to my current one. it's much more expensive and its fine arts program much weaker but i'll be able to graduate faster.

so what do i choose

I'm 21 years old. I'm planning on going to a local community college. Because it's cheaper and closer to home. I didn't go to college right out of high school because I couldn't afford it. I spent the last 2 years working at a preschool as a teacher assistant saving as much money as I could for school. and now want to go to college and major in education. But I'm worried that I'm starting too late and will have a hard time making friends and stuff. I know I should really focus on getting my degree and I am but at the same time I was hopeing to meet some great people too.

I have a 3.0 gpa, but I totally botched my SATs. I got a 630 in verbal, which is ok but my math was a very embarrassing 470. I have tons of extra-curricular and volunteer work though. I'm going to take my SATs again to raise it up, but at this point I just want to know, what colleges could I get into with those kind of grades?

2007-08-01 05:07:48 · 3 answers · asked by Anonymous

I want to know what my chances are of getting into UCLA or UC Berkeley.

-I have a 3.6 GPA

I scored 1860 on SATs

-I am aiming for an IB diploma (hoping to stand out as there arnt many IB diploma candidates applying to US universities.)

- I am an international student studying in another country, although I am also a California resident since my parents have a house there.

-I am part of the Key Club, Stu Gov, National Junior honor society, Chinese honor society, a leadership position in Orphanage Club, a leadership position in World Vision, and I am also part of the chamber music group (an auditioned musical group with string instruments that takes only 2-3 players of each instrument...very hard to get in!)

-I have done 106 hours of volunteer work and 2 summers of internship with 2 big computer companies.

-I've gotten a few awards for community service for clubs at school.

- i write pretty good essays...

-Potential majors are something to do with science.maybe computers.

THANKS
