average Private college $30,367 per year
average Public college $5,836 per year
this is tuition only and not dorms, books, etc...
So, the average 4-year private college degree would cost about $121,468 and the average private would be about $23,344 plus the additional costs of living expenses and books.
The average additional costs at private colleges was $8149 and at publics was $6960.
That means the total cost of a 4-year degree in 2006-2007 money was:
Private - $130,384
Public - $51,184 (in-state) -- out of state public is similar to private.
The most expensive colleges are around $36,000 per year (tuition) and the least expensive colleges are public and free (USMA, USNA, USAFA, USCGA, etc...)

Depends on the school. I go to a private university and it costs about 30,000 a year. However, I think on average with financial aid the avg debt after 4 years is about 40,000. Im not sure about state schools and stuff. Just work on getting scholarships and grants.

It can range from around 40,000 to 200,000 depending on wheather its private or community, or in state/out of state. I would say that most would be around 100,000 though.
