Start volunteering there, or at other veterinary clinics or rescue leagues.

First, I assume you have some pets at home yourself.
Second, volunteer to walk dogs for the local animal shelter.
They might even let you care for some animals too.
See if a veterinarian wants someone to clean cages & feed.
This could be a good summer or after school job.
Talk to the college people about entry requirements & fees.
Make sure you're taking courses that will get you there.

If you want to become a vet then you should start by
*being gentle to animals
*learn to love animals
*make sure you are not allergic to dogs, cats, and etc.
*learn about animals
*you should start by getting a dog or a cat and take care of them and you will learn about more about them as well
*when you go to college they will help you more
You can also volunteer in places such as Vets and maybe even surf the web for some ways to help you in the future, and take your time to learn about animals

I hope it helps
Kevin

See if you can get an internship in high school with a local vet (I knew some people in h.s. that did that). Also, see about volunteering at your local humane society so you can get experience working with lots of different animals. good luck!!

Visit pet hospitals and clinics in your area, if it's OK with your parents...and ask if they have any chores they would be able to hire you to do? It might not be a glamorous task, but maybe they would let you observe some of the procedures they do in these places. It's worth a try! Good luck.

keep your grades up, espcially in any math and science courses. take as much biology as you can. also, talk to your school's guidance counselor and see if there are any summer intern programs for kids your age. also, see if that person can get any information from texas a&m about their vet medicine program.
