I would like to continue my studies and specifically study Earth and Space Science and secondary Ed. My great, great, great grandfather actually made a huge donation of millions of dollars to build an astronomy building at a California college. This was about 150 years ago. He gave away his entire fortune and nothing to his family. Do you think the college would at least give me a discount or something if I decided to go there? Thanks.

I keep getting screwed over by different CSU's (california state universities) and have accepted a new full time job. I don't want to abandon my schooling, but need something that is completely online (ideally scheduled around the pace I want) and is legit. I tried CSULB but was told no more applicants period / they're making some changes. Any other ideas / experiences?? THANK YOU so much for anything : )

I want to get into Social Work after High School, and I've been wondering... If I go to a community college right after High School, and THEN go to a university (For four years) after those two years after I get my AS, what are the benefits?? Will I learn a lot at the Community College that will make the university life easier and more enjoyable??
Thank you :D

P.S- My first day of 11th grade was today, and I'm in this program called "Futures" that I got into. What it is exacly is this class where I'll be researching deeply into what I want to do in the future. Then our Advisors work hard to get us an intership that will look amazing for College.

I went to a university for a few years and then because of health reasons, dropped out. I barley turned anything in the last semester. My GPA at that college is very low. Though I did get most of my basics, am even more motivated now, and would rather just start over as a freshman. I want to apply to a top college (1 tier), and then possibly go on to dental school at an Ivy League College. Is there any way that i could just leave my GPA from my first college off of my application? I'm afraid that I won't be able to get in because of it. Also, if it did have to count, could I just transfer the A's that I made, and retake the rest? What should I do? Thank you!

They seem to have an excellent reputation in regards to international business, but I would like to get opinions about the school and the program beyond what is listed in rankings, etc. I plan on working in corporate finance for an investment bank, internationally and want to know if this school will give me the opportunities to do so. Any knowledge that can be passed on about the school, such as admissions, career, etc. beyond what is on their website, U.S. News, etc. would be great.

I am currently a history major. I though a certificate in Technical Writing and Professional Writing might be something good to supplement my degree with, as I do a lot of writing and research anyway. I was just wondering what people with technical & professional writing degrees/certificates do. Would it be worth it for me to try to earn this certificate?

I have always been fasinated by the for-profit model of education. Personally, I see them all as advertising scams that push people to believe an education will give them the dream job they have always wanted and are decieving.
Yet, traditional universities do the same. The reasons I found I hate the for-profit model are basically categorized in three areas:
1) No admissions standard.
2) Bottom line is to please share holders (why number 1 exists)
3) Sales people as admissions councelors decieve people into enrolling.

I think these schools have their place because they do provide accessable education to everyone. But it seems to me that the money spent on these schools would fair much better to have local communities create their own community college.

Profit should never be a driving factor in education. But the same argument can be made for traditional tier 1 schools that live off of enormous grant money for research. But at least its not decieving.

What do you think?

I just started grad school and we are required to take 15 credits. I am also doing an internship (which I am a first year student and am not trained for- also required). I feel completely overwhelmed right now. Anyone have advice about grad school?
Is it just overwhelming at first? How does it compare to undergrad? How does grading compare?

im just starting college this year, im taking a load of biology and chemistry classes because i plan on majoring in these areas, to get ready for dental school. im going into pre-dentistry.
im taking 12-13 credits this semester
i plan on taking 18 next semester, 18 in the summer, and 18 in fall and spring of the following 2009 year. thats a whopping total of 85 credits if im right...
which means that in two years i could have my Associates degree in pre dentistry, is that right?

im confused though, about how many credits i neeed to get a B.S. degree in pre dentistry. isnt it around 120-130?
and is it possible for me to get my B.S. degree in 3 years flat...if i work my *** offf and get 18 credits per semester?
