Should I go to medical school or not?. I love medicine, in fact, I was in medical school when I was living in my country (DR). I only did part of my first year, then I moved to US with my parents and sister. It took a while for me to learn the English language and to kind of transitioned my life style to the American way. Now I am married and have two little angels. But my life seems to be missing something, I am not a doctor like I've always dreamed of. I like nursing, but never as much as medical school. Some part of me still wants to persue my dreams, some part of me tells me I am kind of old to start thinking about it. In fact, a Doctor suggested to me to become a Nurse Practicioner, wich is the closest I would get as a Doctor. But if I do that I would be settleing for something less than my dreams. Can anyone please help me with my dilema? What are the pros and cons of getting into medical school at a late age? How much of my family's time Would I have to sacrifice?

I was accepted to one of the best schools overseas for my undergraduate education. When i moved to college, i was only 18 young and stupid; i was all about partying not going to my classes, playing sports and having fun. I was placed on academic probation 3 times and eventually expelled. I then was able to transfer to a different school but also a good school. I was able to graduate and i became more focused. I am 27 now back in the US and i am about to graduate with an MA and i have a GPA of 3.4 in graduate school. I want to apply to a PhD program and they ask if i have ever been placed on academic probation or expelled and they ask for explanation. Should i say the truth, or should i just say that i had some personal and emotional issues and embellish a little. Any ideas what to say ?

My wife went to college for 3.5 years, and ended up failing out pretty much due to apathy her last two semesters.

Now that she's seen how tough it is to get a decent job anywhere without a degree she's realized the errors of her ways and wants to get a degree of some kind (even assoc. if available) but we don't know what our options are.

We've since moved away from her college so going back to it to finish the degree is pretty much out of the question. What other options do we have if she wants a degree of some kind?

Tennessee, Auburn, UNC Chapel Hill, College of Charleston, William and Mary, Vanderbilt or James Madison. Assuming acceptance to all, which would you choose for my sister? (a college-prep-private school senior with a very active social life, high career goals & great study skills) Location and cost are not factors.

In my own experience, my parents (who had never been to college), left it up to me. I just assumed that my son would make those decisions for himself, and so far has done a fine job. I know that legally I do not have the right to get involved without his permission, and I have never asked.

Recently I have questioned if I am doing the right thing. A good friend said that she ALWAYS goes to her daughter's advisement appointments and then checks to make sure that she has registered as planned. She also has her daughter's class schedule and social schedule memorized. Furthermore, she insisted that her daughter provide her with the password so Mom can access her college records. Mom (my friend) says that as long as she is footing the bill, she will continue to do this. Then she insinutated that there was something wrong with me for NOT knowing all the details of my son's life.

She calls it responsible parenting. I call it micromanaging an adult. Your opinion, please. Which?

i heard that some uc's require specific sat subject tests for specific majors. i want to do pre pharmacy studies and that requires an emphasis in chemistry. but as a junior this year, i am taking ap biology therefore later i am taking the sat subject test for bio. i will take ap chemistry next year but is it too late? since college applications are due next year for me on november 30, i wont have enough knowledge by then to take the SAT subject test for chemistry. so is it possible to declare my major is biology and say i want to do pre medicine instead and if i get into ucla and change my major then?

i am considering pre-med and was confused by some of the requirements. some just states that they need 1 year of this and that. but the other said that they need 1 year of college this and college that. so do you need a bachelor or something before going pre-med or you just go to pre-med?

My high school GPA is roughly a 3.8 and my SAT score was a 1240 out of 1600 (670-Math 570-English). I have a decent amount of community service and am involved in a lot of sports and extra circular activities. Show how are my chances?
