All the info on your grad school appl is sensitive info. If their site is secure, you should be okay, so long as they also keep their data secure. If concerned, you can ask if they'll take the app without the SS#, maybe assign you an applicant number or the like.

Is their site secure? Is it, for example, https:// ?

I am sure that is safe to enter your SS# on this page. However, just to make sure. When you are on this page look up at the web address. It should have an - https: - there. The 's' is for secure site.

I do not know of any college that would not have a secure site, but you never know.

It will normally be OK if you are dealing directly with an acredited school. If you ar at some third party sight it would be best to call the school directly and get the address of a secure server.pp

I too am quite nervous about sending info like that online. However, most transactions are done online now (banking, credit cards,....) so I think it is safe. Good luck with your grad school!
