an undergraduate receives a bachelor's degree (this is your initial degree, the one you start pursuing after high school and which takes you approx. 4 years to complete at university)
a graduate receives a master's degree, or the degree a level higher than the bachelor's (a bachelor degree is the prerequisite for the masters one) which takes 2 years or more, depending on your program.

A graduate is an individual who has passed all courses and has received a letter issued by the University stating all courses has been passed.
An undergraduate is one that is still in the University and still has courses to complete.

undergraduate courses are those that are between high school and your bachelor's degree. An associates or bachelor's degree is considered an undergraduate degree.
graduate courses are those that require a bachelor's degree to enter. A master's or doctorate is considered a graduate degree.
Medical, law, veterinary, etc... degrees are considered 'first professional'

If you don't have a bachelor's degree yet you're an undergraduate. A student who is working toward a degree beyond a bachelor's degree is a graduate student.

A Bachelor's degree (or lower, including Diploma, Associate Degree, Certificate, etc). is an undergraduate degree. A Master's degree (or higher, including a Ph.D. an M.F.A., a post-doctoral degree, etc). is a Graduate degree.
