I am 23 now. I can't get financial aid until I am 24, because my parents make too much money (but won't pay for my school), and I can't even get a student loan without their co-signature.
In my years off, I have been travelling in Asia and Europe, but I am not finished yet :)

Because if you have a university education, you are more likely to be able to afford the travel. Also, while you are in the university, you may have a chance to be involved in Study Abroad and begin your travelling experience.
