Does anyone know colleges with a decent hippie population. I can't think of any other word for what I'm looking for. I'm trying to find a bunch of chill, non judgmental, open people. I lot of people have suggested Humboldt State to me. Does anyone know any other schools?

I'm looking to major in botany or horticulture btw.

I live in Mississippi and I was reading the statistics from University of Mississippi Medical Center (in Jackson) and they said that they admit 50% of the applicants into their medical school. That seemed like a very high number. Have I in some way misread the statistics?

I am asking this question with the perspective of a International Student from India who wishes to do a MBA from an American College. I can give GMAT but I have also got an option of getting into an American college(University of Findlay/Troy University) without the scores as they only require a decent work experience. I am also open to suggestions if there are good schools in other parts if the world. I am in urgent need of solving this querry as I am running out of age, being 27 yrs. old. Guys please help me out. Thanks.

Sacred Heart-CT
Providence College-RI
Manhattanville College-NY

and the others that Im applying to are SUNY Plattsburgh,Oneonta and Binghamton,Stonehill-MA,Roger Williams-RI and Quinnipiac-Ct.Do you think I have a chance to getting into any of these.Do you have any advice.Thanks.

I have the chance to join the honors college at my university but the extra classes would fill all my available slots. Is it worth it in the end just to have an Honors College notation on your degree? I also will be graduating with honors probably Magna if my gpa holds in line with last years class.

Last year my weighted GPA was 3.92 and i took AP US. Well I'm in 11th grade right now and for first quarter my GPA dropped to like 3.29 because i'm taking 3 AP classes and i'm busy with other stuff.
My class rank for 9th and 10th grade is 94%.

I'm an officer in a club and might be Pres/Vice Pres next year and a member in FBLA.

I'm also in a water sport that has some competitions outside of school and might be captain or co-cap next year.

I took my SATs for the first time and i got an 1800. I'm planning to take it 3 more times though.

So what UCs or some other good colleges could i probably get in?

I might be planning to major in business but i'm not really sure yet....

Hi, I'm thinking about applying for Math doctorate program.
And I wanna know how long usaully it takes to finish up PhD usually.

I have to finish up quickly as possible to go back to my country and serve for mendatory service. They won't let me stay go outside the country after 28 if I haven't served.

Do kids in really good schools like Ivylevel institution finish up quicker since they are smart?

And one other important question, does Educational Math take less than general math PhD?

Seems like Ed. D take less than general math or stat phD

Hope to hear you soon.

My bachelor's is in Finance, but I think I need to know more about accounting for my career. Would an MBA or a second BS better fulfill this? I would probably want to get an MBA irregardless, so I'd go on to the MBA after the BS in accounting if that's necessary.

I'm thinking about going to Law school in pursuit of an immigration law degree, but what's the name of the program that i would have to pursuit? because i keep looking at the University of Florida and Florida State University, and it doesn't say specifically "immigration law." Do i get a general degree and then specify in something? or do i have to find a law school that actually has an immigration program?

Would it be wiser, and look better on a CV, if I transfer to and graduate from LSU, starting next spring (I never see any prominent academics who went there; it's a Tier 3 school) or if I take a little more time off and apply to schools such as UBC (Vancouver), UT Austin, U Virginia, and McGill (Montreal), start next fall, and graduate possibly a year or so later? I'm strongly considering pursuing a Ph.D. in anthropology or related social science, and I can't decide whether or not to put more emphasis on my undergrad degree (I would like to). Suggestions? P.S. I addressed Ranto because I know he is knowledgable on the subject.

Hey guys,
I'm in somewhat of a dilemma. Here's my deal. I'm a 20 year old guy from Louisiana. I'm trying to figure out what I should do academically. I've spent the last couple of years taking classes at a small local college, on and off. Things have been sort of rough, personally, and after Hurricane Katrina everything has been a little crazy in the state, especially with colleges.

After much exploration, I've decided that I would like to become a professor of anthropology or international studies. I read a lot on my own, and I've always been a good student, and although my first couple of college years were turbulent, I want to really pursue my studies seriously.

Now, the most practical option is LSU, which is ranked pretty low academically, but I get in state tuition. My parents are anxious for me to just finish. But I want to build a serious academic foundation and CV, and have an enriching time. Should I just try to make the best of LSU? Or shoot for more? I'm struggling here.
