I have the chance to join the honors college at my university but the extra classes would fill all my available slots. Is it worth it in the end just to have an Honors College notation on your degree? I also will be graduating with honors probably Magna if my gpa holds in line with last years class.

It's not for anyone else but you. The advantage is that it adds a sense of pride in your accomplishment.

If you were a runner on the track team, you wouldn't ask "what's the difference between winning the race and just being in the pack?" Sure, everyone who finished the race finished - it's an entirely different feeling to finish at the front.

Academic honors is a bit the same. It means you put forth considerable effort, are extremely talented, or both. It says to people who care about such things that you were interested in more than just finishing the race - you wanted academic excellence.

There are some employers (the US Gov't among them) that place a high value on GPA and academic excellence. Most graduate school admissions committees do as well.

To an employer it means you will do more than just go to work and "do your job" then go home; it means you will give 110% all the time because that's what you do, it's who you are.

There are two groups of people out there. There are those who believe "everybody plays, everybody wins" and there are those who know that "there are no second place winners". Which are you?

If your GPA is holding at Magna C. Laude range, I'm guessing that you're among those who want to win; not those that "also ran".

hi. on the 2d, I actual have an user-friendly degree, and im returned at college for an further semester to proper up and get honours. Having an user-friendly degree isnt something to be sniffed at, you nonetheless would desire to bypass examinations and coursework. although, getting honours is lots greater effective interior the long-term, so i could do the greater effective year. Time flies besides and having the honours would be greater advantageous. objective for the proper and dont settle for something much less!

Nothing really. Who really cares except yourself. Go out and get a job, make money and become rich. Speculate in property, become a diva. Then we will all care. Money makes the world go round honey and gives you much more opportunities in life than an honours degree.
