I like combining all of these methods-- Probably because I'm a teacher. I think that each serves a very specific purpose which is best suited for the individual needs of the student and the particular task at hand. Writing a research paper is very different from writing a short story; therefore, you'd use two completely different methods for organizing your thoughts and information. Same type of situation when you are taking two different types of classes--taking notes in history class is very different from taking notes in math class.

Sorry, but I've never heard of any specific methods, and I don't think that it would help to use a "system". I think the basic problem is that most students don't bother to take notes at all, or they try to write everything down, rather than only putting down those things they need to help them remember what was said.
