Why do people think that HBCU's are racists. I am going attempt to clear it up. HBCU's are exactly what they are Historically Black Colleges and Universities, these are the schools that were opened years ago so that black people could recieve educations when no other institutions would allow them in their schools. These schools were full of black people and that is why they are historically black. HBCU's do not only accept black people. If you ever attended one like me (HOWARD!!!!!) you would know that they are always looking to become more diverse. The kid next door to me is Asian and we have other non-black people that attend here. Because some people see the world black in the title of Historically Black Colleges and Universities they automatically believe that the schools are only for blacks which is untrue. What do you think of the matter?

So I handed in a take home midterm today. It was due Tuesday and I've had the flu for about a week now. I will admit I procrastinated with it a bit, well I was half way done by Sunday, when I had the flu really bad. It still here today, but I weakly finished it and sent my bro to hand it in for me. I went back to my parents house who do not have internet from monday and am now back at my place. I handed it in with a doctors note and now that I'm better and shitting my pants, because I handed it in 3 days late, however I added a note. What is the worst case scenario that could happen to me. I've never had to do this, and now I'm freaking out! (It's worth 30% of my final grade, and I already have 29.5 out of 30 so far in the course!

Hi I'm currently a student at Winona State University and while I do enjoy it here, I'm looking for a change. I would love move down south, but because out-of-state tuition is so spendy, I'm going to wait until I graduate to do that. Therefore I would like to attend school in one of the above listed states because of reciprocity. I want a public school because they are more affordable and the atmosphere is soo much better than private schools. I'm a criminal justice major so keep that in mind. Any schools that have outstanding programs in law enforcement? Thanks so much for your help

I didn't do so well in HS, and my SAT score was 1800 out of 2400.

I attend San Francisco State University (this is my first semester), and I am getting all A's (on my tests and essays, which I'm pretty sure will mean a decent GPA) in classes such as Politics, Physics, Business Calculus, Speech, and Freshmen English.

For two years, I held a job at a hospital, and I am now beginning a new one on Wednesday.

My aspiration is to be a partner in a Certified Public Accounting firm - I only just turned 18, but I'm pretty sure of this.

I've had a satirical essay published in a literary newspaper. My writing skills are very strong (don't let this post reflect otherwise!), so I think I can handle the essay required for transferring.

If I maintain my grades, and retake the SAT, do I have even a remote chance of getting into an Ivy League or UC Berkeley?

I'm joining a Student's Accounting Association next semester, and I probably won't transfer until junior year.

I just transferred from a community college to a the engineering department at a university this semester. I had a 3.8 GPA and my only bad grades were a C in history (lol....I'm terrible at history) and 2 B's in.........I don't remember....Anyway, I always saw myself as a succesful student. I was interested in the material, always attended class, always did the homework, got to know my teachers...But now I'm at the university, and although I'm still working hard, I'm doing terrible! For example, I've never made less than an 80 on a math test...but I'm almost sure I flunked the vector calc test I took last week...And I was doing really good in another engineering class but I suddenly made a C on the test (And I still can't tell if it was my mistakes or just the TA's grading). I can't drop any classes and I feel like there's no way out! I think I somehow got really stupid! Should I give up or do other people go through this?

im currently going to a university college and am thinking of quitting and going to community college for those classes it would be cheaper. Right now im not sure my scholorship will even allow me to take the emt basics since its 6 credits for the lab and another for the lecture and my scholorship i think makes me take the core classes i need for what ever major i pick. anyways should i just go and get my emt licensed and eventually or go thru the university? if i stay in university i will study more than the emt but it will take longer. also if i go to community can i do it with out using college transcript since i think it will be pointless.

I have been accepted to the university I've always wanted to go to and will be attending Spring 2008.

I've already registered and paid for orientation, reserved parking decals and sent off all my immunizations and everything else.

I am a transfer student, and I assume the grades that I will finish up this semester will be really good.

Problem is I am something of a worry wart when it comes to my future schooling...

Would it be possible for the University to defer my enrollment or un-accept me after I've already been accepted?

I am hearing more and more about friends of friends going off to Wake Forrest. I think the only thing I have heard about regarding Wake was Tim Duncan. Other than that I would some info on it.
What is the overall opinion of the school? Is it a prestigious institution?
