My brother has been a welder since the age of 16 and has never been out of a job, and has traveled all over the US. He is in very high demand and makes a great salary. I hope this is an approved apprenticeship program?

A girl welder is cool, but one doesn't go to college to be a welder. Welding is a trade. It's taught at a trade school. - Nothing wrong with that, it's like auto mechanics. One doesn't go to college to become an auto mechanic. Again, it's a trade school.
And yes, someone with a trade will probably make a lot more money than someone with a college degree in English or American Studies.
