So I handed in a take home midterm today. It was due Tuesday and I've had the flu for about a week now. I will admit I procrastinated with it a bit, well I was half way done by Sunday, when I had the flu really bad. It still here today, but I weakly finished it and sent my bro to hand it in for me. I went back to my parents house who do not have internet from monday and am now back at my place. I handed it in with a doctors note and now that I'm better and shitting my pants, because I handed it in 3 days late, however I added a note. What is the worst case scenario that could happen to me. I've never had to do this, and now I'm freaking out! (It's worth 30% of my final grade, and I already have 29.5 out of 30 so far in the course!

You shouldn't. It depends on the late policy of the teacher. (so much percent off your grade per day it's late) I suggest talking to your teacher. Tell them what you just said in your question - minus the procrastination part. Most of the time the teachers make an acception every now and then. If they don't, I honestly don't think you'll fail. Good luck!!!

Depends on what the prof put on the sylabus. You do have a doctors note and you are an A student so you have several things going for you. He may deduct one letter grade for late tests but if you call and talk to him he could very likely make an exception. If you normally do good work and regularly attend classes most profs are willing to work with you.

You may be just fine. If you already have an A in the course, your instructor will likely consider that. You have been sick AND had a Doctor's note. This should be enough for your professor to give you some slack. If he/she grades it VERY low, however, go into their office and tell them what you just told us. The human visitation factor can boost your grades like no one seems to ever know. Good luck. I think you'll be fine.

Don't worry about it, I'm sure those time restraints are only used as a threat to scare the students and no one ever complies with them. This habit of being tardy will not be drawn over into your future projects and employers just love to see a free spirit when it comes to punctuality.
You're probably just shitting your pants as a symptom of the flu, not from worrying.

Depends on school policy and how leniant the professor is. Look on your syllabus and see what thier policy is for handing in late test. I would think that if you have a note from your doctor that it will help.
Also, if you are doing good in that class, it will help the professor let you turn in the test and accept it, over someone who continuously slacks off and turns in another paper late.

It is possible that you will fail. It depends on the professor and the school. I have had a similar situation and ended up failing the class because of it. I have a friend who had a similar situation and passed the class. It really depends on the professor's policy and whether or not he/she is empathetic.
Had I been in your situation, I would have called my professor on the day it was due and explained the situation and asked if I could turn it in when I return. I would have also offered to email it/fax it. Also, I would have found a friend to deliver it to my professor.

Depends on the Professor/ Teacher. If they are strict and have policies against Late Assignments then you should check that out. I'm sure a Doctors note is a valid reason but if they are cranky, strict and said ABSOLUTELY no extensions, then I would be worried.

Hmm, really it depends on the teachers view of it all.
In most cases teachers would probably understand your circumstances and be a little less leaniant on you, giving you a grade more based on how the paper is, and not counting off so much since you've been sick!
Good luck!

Usually punctuality is one of the most important factors in take-home exams, so you very well may fail. You would have done far better to have contacted the professor before it was due to let him/her know what was going on.

You should check the syllabus for the course. Most professors, myself included, put information about late assignments there. I would also recommend contacting the prof yourself. Many teachers can be very understanding.
