Originally i was going to major in communications .....but i'm now insecure about not getting a financially stable job that pays well! with that major.......do you think a communications major is sketchy in landing a job and do you think that if I major in business and minor in communications i'll end up with more job prospects? ------and in high school do I need math like calculus to get into business?

I think it all depends on what you want to do. In general, there are usually more jobs for business majors, but if they are not the kinds of jobs that you want, that won't much help you. As far as math goes, you will have to take calculus if you major in business, but you can take it when you get to college if you haven't had it in high school.

I believe you will be fine. I have a communications major and a minor in Computer Science - but the number one skill employers are looking for is individuals who understand communication. I can appreciate your worry because many people do not understand what a degree in communications is for - but think about your life and how you related before you began, and compare that to who you are now - knowing what you know. Those folks who chose to be ignorant and that it's pointless, consider the source and consider their own self confidence issues because they have nothing better to say And congrats! I believe you will be very happy with the combination and will have many offers of engagement!

I've been in college for 4 years now (as well as working in sales) and... most of the jobs out there (as I have seen) are saturated with buisness majors, <--- they are a dime a dozen. Communications is far superior in my opinion. Communication is vital in EVERY profession and so (just my opinion, no hard evidence) it is much more desirable and flexable. But as always, pray on your decision and find what God's will is and you can't go wrong! :) This is all my opinion, I'm no expert, but I Hope this helps.

I don't think you should be worried about getting a job with a com. degree. You probably won't use half the stuff you learn in college and people often get jobs totally unrelated to their field of study. In my opinion, if you have the ability to communicate and speak in front of people effectively, you're way ahead of the pack. Employers are looking for people who are leaders and can communicate.

Well to me its all depends on what job you want to do. Second communication I think dosent have sketchines in landing a job. And last you might going to need it depending on what psost-secondary school your going to.

you need a level of maths for buisness but, it aint rocket science - because I do that.

BUT, what do you want to do with your life? Chase your dreams whilst you're young.
