You have the technical skills (fashion design software should be easy for you), so you need to focus on pattern construction, high-end sewing (depending on your style), and especially intensive knowledge of fabrics (what drapes and how, what requires backing, etc. Start with developing a portfolio of e-sketches and then start making the clothing (have a model in mind) and develop a print portfolio. You should start small by making clothing for friends (maybe just for the cost of fabric), and develop a "following." Work locally to show your work and get into boutiques for sales. I would juxtapose your industrial design work with fashion as your innovation--might be very interesting. Then get on Project Runway and knock 'em dead!

Start designing stuff to create a portfolio--get them made up, photographed etc
