I got a 2190 on my SAT's, which is pretty good, but i'm not sure if i can get into the Ivy League schools with that. My gpa's around a 3.8-3.9. I have several extra-curriculars, which includes the president of a community service club at my school. I'm in CSF (california scholarship foundation), spanish club, and in the school band. I ran a food bank at my school, and won a silver award for it from the county. I was also on the Homecoming court at my school, for homecoming queen. Is this enough to get me into Harvard? Or maybe any other Ivy League schools? I'm also an administrative assistant at a nearby office, and have been working since i was 14. I don't know if that'll factor into my chances of being accepted though. Any comments are appreciated, thanks!

Also, if you need any more info, just ask =)

Oh, i don't exactly come from a really good high school. However, i'm rank 11 in my class of around 400 students

To Bookworm: Lol, thanks =) but no, i'm not involved in any sports. I'm not very athletic. My idea of exercising in walking my dog, lol.

To Neniaf: I've pretty much tried to take all the honors and AP classes my school offers. For example, this is my senior year, and i'm taking four AP classes and two other classes

I do have some additional questions. Have you been taking Honors, AP, or IB courses? What kinds of courses have you taken in high school? Is the GPA a weighted or unweighted version?

Your SATs are in range, although there is not a guarantee of getting into a highly selective school like Harvard even if your score is a perfect 2400. Your GPA seems a little low, so what would matter would be if you were taking an extremely rigorous schedule, like physics, calculus, lots of honors classes, etc.

I find that a lot of people on this site mention their academics quickly and then go on to an extended version of extracurricular activities. I have to tell you that generally the extracurriculars only count if the grades and scores are there at elite schools. They love it if someone with a 4.0 GPA and 2400 SAT ALSO engages in extracurricular activities, but they just don't say, "Okay, this person only has a 3.7 and a 2100 SAT score, but she is really involved in a lot of great other things, so we'll accept her anyway."

How many people are accepted and have graduated Harvard? How many pop stars are there? I'll bet you will find more Harvard grads than pop stars. The thing is, both aren't likely to happen to most people. And, just so you know, you posted this in the Military section.
