Software - December 2006

I was told by someone who tried this that his computer crashed after doing it. A technician who repaired his system said that the new IE puts important files on your system and when you uninstall it, the files go with it.

i was removing some unused programs on my computer to help clear some space but i ended up getting rid of a program i wasn't suppose to. It ended up clearing my character map, solitiare, paint, calculater, and more! I am unable to find the program to get all these things back. So if someone can post a link or something to help, it would be a great!

Ok I downloaded the new version of McAfee Security Center and I found it nice looking but the problem is, it is so confusing and frustrating. The interface is not that well laid out you have to choose advanced menu always or click configure to get to more options that takes me about 5 minutes to sort through. It nags if you disable any options unless you tell it to ignore which I did alot, and it is full of so many useless options. Now I have Battlefield 2 and I uninstalled in October so now if I install it again I don't know how McAfee will respond to me going online.

So what do you think of the new version? Also how do I disable (not unsuscribe) the Privacy Service because I can't find it in my options? Has anyone played multiplayer games on it what did it do to the games?

Hi, i just installed windows media player 11 and everything was working fine, until when I tried to play a video (wmv file) only the music was showing up. I rightclicked and selected "show video" but nothing happened. please help!

The upgrade won't let me select the tracks I want to rip from a CD and it won't let me move a track from one album into another album. The tracks it does rip from a CD move into the wrong album.

I have recently dumped IE7 in favour of Mozilla Firefox and I couldn't be happier, it's faster, more reliable, more flexible, and easier to use. However when ever I open my hotmails in MSN messenger I get an IE window instead of a firefox one, it isn't the biggest problem in the world but it would be nice to cut my computer's last ties to IE. Anyone know how to do this?

I made a website using the Microsoft Word then when I tried to save it as an html file to be uploaded a message appeared explaining that some features in this document are not supported by Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 and Netscape Navigator 4 and under it was written "Pictures and objects with text wrapping will become left or right aligned." I don't care if some features aren't supported by these 2 browsers, I want my page as it is without any changes. HOW CAN I PREVENT THE MICROSOFT WORD FROM EDITING THE DOCUMENT SO IT CAN WORK ON THE 2 BROWSERS I'VE MENTIONED BEFORE?

I got rid of MS Paint (on accident) and now it wont show up on the add/remove programs list or in the add/remove window's components, either. I tried searching for it on the computer and it seems to find it, but when I click on the button with the 'application' heading, it comes up and freezes or just doesnt let me access any of my folders. Is there any way to install MS Paint or to even uninstall/reinstall it?! Thanks!

Okay so I had Norton Internet Security and I had created the main "Parent" account with an account on my computer that has now been deleted and my dad forgot the password to it so theres really no way to get it off my sysem even when I use "Add/Remove Programs" I need to delete that version of Norton because it has expired and I purchased the 2007 version for $50 dollars but it wont let me install it until I have deleted the old one. Now my computer is LOADED with viruses and spyware and I dont know how to delete the old Norton Internet Security. Have any ideas or is my only option to TOTALLY wipe out my system with recovery discs? Help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

I am making DVDs of my family photos with music background, but I want to be able to separate the occasions and then have a menu so I can go to whatever occasion I want to look at the pictures.
