We need to produce professional quality documents including 11 X 17 size bulletins, fliers, pamphlets, door hangers and postcards. I'm kind of a novice designer so I need software that is easy to use.

Well framemaker is expensive and not easy to use. Open office is easy but limited. Probably the most graphically oriented but somewhat user friendly is Illustrator from Adobe. It's layout is much like photoshop and once you get use to it you can fly through things.

Framemaker is great for long document but if you want just a few page bulletins Illustrator will do very nicely.

It's about 500$ (I know a lot) but you can most certainly get an older version or used one for a lot less. For instance if you got a version from say 3 years ago it's still top notch and would be more than powerful enough for all the bulletins but might not support some new graphics or some hyper linking or something. I know there is a good amount of free software for linux that is open source that might do well (means probably running linux but that's free also).

I use either MSWord, and Photoshop. I have also used Microsoft Publisher which gives very acceptable results. Please remember that you will have to have a printer capable of printing all the sizes you desire, or you willhave to cut and paste manually.

If you want to stick to something mainstream, inquire about software purchases for non-profit organizations.
