Software - April 2007

I am starting classes for my Associates in Visual Communications. I have a list of software I have to install on my computer. And one thing says. UNIX/LINUX/Knoppix does anyone know what that is and if so how would I go about getting it? Please I know nothing about LINUX, I've only heard the name before.

I have downloaded google earth, and then deleted it, then restored my computer and now I have tried to download it again and it says a previous version is still installed. So I go to control panel and try to remove it and it says"setup exe has encountered a problem and has to close" and that is it. I don't know how to either delete the old one, or try to download the new one.....Help!

The pictures that i have in "MY Pictures" i would like 2 take it out cause it is holdin alot of my memory in my hard drive..i do not want 2 loose my photos..but i do want to save them n have it on a CD that i can always go back 2 it...

Does anyone know of a software that can remove the vocals in a video so I can dub my own voice over the actors voice and yet I can still hear the background sound effects, please? I googled alot but I can only find softwares for music. Thank you!

I'm not sure whats going on but since the weekend, I havent been able to move or delete emails in outlook express. Every time I try to delete, nothing happens and when I try to move an email to the delete mails folder it tells me an error has occurred.

I'm familiar with widow/orphan protection in MS Word, but that doesn't help me, for reasons you'll see below. I've also tried putting the chunks of text in tables and that doesn't help either. Here's the problem:

I often work with outlines that involve chunks of bulleted text that look like a multiple-choice test question. For example:

1. The idea that people ------- their own reality or shape their experience based on previous subjective events is one of the fundamental ------- of social psychology.

a. extricate . . privileges
b. avoid . . desires
c. construct . . axioms
d. fortify . . goals

It would be tremendously convenient if there was a way for me to guarantee that the chunks of text didn't get divided across page breaks.

Any suggestions?
