Software - April 2007

I have had this weird problem with Excel the past few months. I cannot double-click cells to edit the content in the cell - to input/edit content I have to use the text bar under the menu bar. This means that I cannot enter multiple paragraphs among other things. Likewise, when I copy from one cell to another I can only get out of copy mode by clicking into that top edit field. This problem started suddenly, I don't know what I might have done to initiate it? Has anyone heard about this problem before? Do I really need to re-install it?

My file is 1.255 mb and i made my music video.
it won't let me save movie when i try to go to file,save movie.
it says windows movie maker cannot save the movie to the specific location......................... blah.............

Please i don't want to change it around,
i just want a wmv version of it.

I just a bought a brand new lord of the rings battle for middle earth 2 for my pc. I met all of the requirements for it. The first two CD's ran well, but when i got to the third CD it says that it was unable to transfer the music.big from the media. It stopped at about 30%. The CD is completely clean but it still wouldn't install. I did what it said and shut down all the other programs so i could install it. It still doesn't work. What do I do!?

This is not the ordinary toolbar of useful stuff. I am referring to a bunch of Microsoft crap, that says "Customize links", "Free Hotmail", "Windows Media," and "Windows."

I don't need any of those. I know how to customize links without this. I will never go back to using Hotmail. I like RealPlayer better than Windows Media. And I am planning to kiss off Windows forever and go Linux soon. So I just want to free up the space on my monitor now being taken up with that Bill Gates garbage, buttons that do not even shortcut you to something you want anyway but just dump their advertising in your face.

So how can I get rid of that pesky bar and recover some useful screen space?

Oh, BTW, I have XP-Pro and Firefox.

I am looking to buy a desktop computer for my son and I noticed that it already has Vista Home Premium pre-loaded. I am currently running XP on a desktop and a laptop in the house. What can I expect as far as wireless compatability (The Vista machine has Wireless B/G built in) to my DSL router, and are there any Vista Quirks I should know about?

Ok, I had to get my computer fixed not to long ago, and they had to wipe my drives and reinstall the original programs. With that, means I'm stuck (once again) with Microsoft Office on my computer. I have no codes to this program, so my Word doesn't work.

Last time, I removed Office and installed Works Suite. Word worked perfectly. This time, Office won't leave! I removed it using the Add/Remove feature, but it's still there, lurking under Program Files. Nothing I do will get rid of it so I can have my Word back.

Please help! My job depends on this!

I have Windows XP and Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0
I cannot figure out how to add the show desktop icon to my quicklaunch toolbar. Microsoft support gives detailed instructions but it only works for Internet Explorer versions up to 6.0., or for Vista.
(My Quicklaunch is active... I've tried creating it using notepad and running the .scf file... the
"move here" option isn't available... help!)

Thanks to all who helped with the picture resizing.

Now I need a bit of software that will compress the image down to a 20k file after the resizing.

Ideally so I can select multiple images and get them all done at once!

FireFox is the ONLY program that I have had issues with now that I am using Vista. When I go to certain web sites, there is no particular pattern, my computer will completely lock up. I have to kill the power and start over. I would rather use FireFox over IE but unless there is a fix to the problem I can no longer use FireFox. I have not seen any updates to this problem but was wondering if anyone else has run into this or knows of a fix?
