FireFox is the ONLY program that I have had issues with now that I am using Vista. When I go to certain web sites, there is no particular pattern, my computer will completely lock up. I have to kill the power and start over. I would rather use FireFox over IE but unless there is a fix to the problem I can no longer use FireFox. I have not seen any updates to this problem but was wondering if anyone else has run into this or knows of a fix?

I'm running Firefox on Vista and haven't had this problem. Make sure you've got the latest version of Firefox, and try uninstalling any plug-ins or add-ons you may have. In fact, maybe uninstalling and reinstalling clean will help. Also try a fresh install of things like Flash and Adobe Reader, just in case. If it generates an error report, try checking the Problem Reports in Control Panel or your Event Logs to see if there are any clues there.

It figures that microsoft would tailor it so open source software would fail on its precious OS.

Anyway, it sounds like it might just be the java and flash issues that firefox often has. Does it always lock up at the same specific websites? Do those websites incorporate flash and/or java in some way? If so, that is probably what it is. Update your flashplayer, and your java drives, and see if that helps. If not, you can always just use IE when you have to use those specific websites.

Of course, you could always do the sensible thing: Dump windows as use a real OS like Linux. (Power to the Penguin)

Firefox is Vista compatible. Make sure you have the latest version.

Check to see if your security software, such as a firewall, is blocking Firefox.

Firefox works flawlessly on my PC.
