To add a song to play continuously on all slides of a PowerPoint presentation,
On the Insert menu, point to Movies and Sounds, and then insert the sound file (from File).
When a message is displayed, double-click the option that allows you to play the music/sound automatically.
To adjust the settings to determine when the sound file stops, click the sound icon, right-click, and then click Custom Animation.
In the Custom Animation task pane, click the arrow on the selected item in the Custom Animation list, and then click Effect Options.
On the Effect tab, under Stop playing, select:
After (this keeps the sound file playing for several slides), and then set the total number of slides the file should play on.

I'm assuming you have PowerPoint 2003. Highlight the sound icon. Select "Slideshow" and "Custom animation". The custom animation window will appear.
Click on the arrow beside the sound file that shows up. Select "Effect Options". Under the "Effect" tab where it says "Stop Playing", type in the last number of the slide you want to play the sound on (or type in 99 to play through the whole presentation).
If it is a short sound that you want to loop continuously through the presentation then do the above but then click on the "Timing" tab and where it says "Repeat", click on the arrow and select "until the end of slide".
