No, get rid of it. AVG Free is the best anti-virus out there right now. Norton is total junk, uses up a lot of system resources and you have to pay for it. Avast is also a good free anti-virus. You can download AVG from the link below. There is absolutely no spyware and it is completely free.

Open up Norton and see when does your subscription expire. If you bought the package in a store, it will expire in about a year since you register. Norton that comes with PC's may be as short as 60 days.
Renewal is a little cheaper than buying the latest version.

If it is a genuine message from Norton then open Norton and click on Live Update and see if it displays the same message. Subscriptions to Norton are renewable on an annual basis.
If you received an email asking you to go to Norton then regard it with suspicion.
If the pop-up is displayed on your desktop then it is probably genuine.

Norton is typically set to update the virus definitions every so often. When it does, it checks to see if you have paid for them for the year. If you haven't, it lets you know. Renewing it is a VERY good idea.
If you don't trust the popup, manually run the update service and it will show you the same thing. Update soon.

this just means your subscription period is over. This means you can no longer download the updates (new virus definitions). I recommend that you do update Norton, but it will set you back $50. If you do not have the extra money there are tons of free anti-virus software out there that honestly work just as good.

it truly is not truly helpful to have greater effective than 2 antivirus softwares in one workstation. this could reason conflict with one yet another. If the two antivirus softwares detects an identical virus via potential of realtime scanning or heuristics, it is going to reason the workstation to freeze. in case you desire to verify your workstation with Norton, you would be able to desire to uninstall Avast.
