Software - April 2007

Ive installed windows 2000 for the time being on my sisters computer (not the original OS). I am not currently hooked up to the net on that particular cpu. When I go to device manager, there are many yellow signs. In addition to this, I'm only able to display 16 colors. I went to dell's web to find drivers for this system but there were several choices. Here's my question. How can I find out what hardware I have in this cpu and where can I find the drivers for it? It seems that I need a driver for a video controller, multimedia audio and something called pci device. Please help!!!

I am using a low end program to cut vinyl. I am using Flexi starter Desay edition. I am having a hard time with graphics. I can cut out letters but for whatever reason it can NOT read any logos, graphics.

I've tried getting some help on-line but it's been useless. Anyone out there that can guide me -- give me advice?

im using openoffice now because my laptop came with a trial version of microsoft word and it expired. i dont mind much because they're basically the same. but is there any way to make the paper in the middle of the screen? on mine the white paper is on the left side and theres just gray on the right. any way to center it or is that how it always is?
*i have the windows version not mac or linux*

I have pressed a button by mistake and can not remember which one. All my desk top icons have gone to the top of the desktop window including the system tray. Can any one tell me how to get this back to normal. ie tray at the bottom and icons on the left thanks alot.

Please its very urgent. I'm going to need a laptop soon for college, but I don't know which one to pick from Windows Vista and Mac OS X.

My course is quite computer-intensive, and one of my subjects needs Microsoft Office (most probably the current edition).

Vista just came out, and many said that it is still in the process of eliminating the remaining bugs in the system, which I think might cause system crashes by the time I'm using the laptop frequently.

The Mac on the other hand is "stable" and with the new Leopard coming out, it might outrun Vista. The problems I might encounter are:
1) Getting used to Mac, since I have always been a Windows user.
2) I'm afraid that the softwares that my course will require might not be compatible to a Mac. I think Boot Camp would use half of my hard drive, which should have been extra space for my files.

I have a game installer, when i browse the cd, the content is only the autorun file. I tried to view hidden files but still the application dont show. How can i view the exe file.

In the autorun text.. the path of the exe file is in "autorun/setup.exe"

I keep looking into my directories and every day there seems to be files or applications that I have no idea what they do, where they came from, and if I need them. How can I sort this mess out?? I hate Windows explorer.. is there a program like the old pctools that would give me way to check these?
