The answer is debatable, but for the most part the answer is no and here's why.
Right now Windows Vista is a new operating system, and will be that way for about one or two more years. There isn't really much wrong with Windows XP right now, and in terms of compatibility and stability, XP is greater than Vista. Vista's main selling feature is the Aero 3D (which is the amazing visuals of flipping screens and cascading and whatnot). Vista also is not as compatible with as much software and programs as XP is. There are also many small misc. bugs that are floating around in Vista, from importing track01,track02 problems to the annoying security control box that pops up every time you try to do something.
All in all, I wouldn't recommend Vista until about two years from now.

Most of the problems with vista happen to the people who upgrade their current computer. Buying a new computer with vista, will have some flaws but not as many as the ones who upgrade their current computer. But you would be safer with XP, either way you go.
The only thing I would not recommend getting is a dell computer, as they are the very worst for laptops. They lack in tech support and overall not the greatest of systems.
Any other brand that is out there you'll be golden with.

Yes, it is too soon for Vista. Then again, it will always be too soon until the next software comes out, and they stop sending updates for MS Vista.

If Vista is like XP, wait at least the first service pack, since before that XP was... uh... under the average of a Microsoft product? Yeah, that would explain it :D

Well, if your buying new that is probably how it will be loaded.
Vista, just like XP when it was released, is having problems but MS is slowy correcting them (we hope). The biggest issue is most users aren't understanding all the "new" control features. (I think they may have gone over the top with them but that is just my opinion.)
A few months from now we will all be used to it and MS will have it working (mostly).

Yes, yes, and yes it is toooooo early.
Half of my devices are not compatible with Vista ($60 web cam to be exact). The software that I used on XP is not compatiable and most of the time it is hard to get software that is compatible...so you are out of the luck....which really sucks MICRO!!!!

You bet it's too early!
Most device drivers don't work on Vista and it's full of bugs.
Cheers!
