VariCAD is another free program
I have used a garden 3D program that was free to show a house layout.

Google SketchUP it a good little program to mess around with. It's free and relatively easy to learn how to use it.

there are lots of them!
i haven't used any for ages, the last i used were DOGS and BOXER.
Probably both obsolete now.
