Read these, then decide. Also, bear in mind that Microsoft has extended non-technical support for WinXP for an additional 5 years.

Vista – Can my computer be upgraded
Whether your PC can be updated depends on when you purchased your computer.
Here are some general rules of thumb to get you started.
If your PC was purchased between Oct. 26, 2006 and Mar. 15, 2007 then you are eligible for the FREE Express Upgrade to Windows Vista.**
If your PC isn't "Windows Vista Capable*" use the Microsoft Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor to get a recommendation for the edition of Windows Vista that is right for you.
If your PC is more than 1 year old - check first with the Microsoft Windows Vista Advisor Tool.
The Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor will help you to determine if your Windows XP-based PC can run Windows Vista.

Yes, but not yet ;)
Vista is a very powerful and graphically rich OS. And it is far more advance than XP in many terms. But judging from past experiences with Microsoft, I really don't know about Vista's glitches. Soon there'll be bugs discovered and exploited. So, my advice is : lay back and wait for a while. At least you had already obtained a copy, right ? When there's no glitches or Microsoft has release it's SP, then it is truly safe to install it.

it depends on how much computer skills you have.
most of the people that recently got Window Vista says that it's really confusing and complicated to deal with than XP or any other program because there is so much to it than other programs.
but it also has its advantages like, having faster programs, better Internet services, more files to put it, bigger space for your computer,
but the choice is up to you.
if you have the computer ability, i suggest that you change it to Window Vista, but if not than keep it the way it is until you find a way to learn how to work Vista
but when you play around with the Vista it will come to you too.
i hope it helped ;]

Aloha from Down Unda!
Somewhere, it is written online, that these Vistas supplied with newly purchased computers will have a shelf life of about a year & then will need to be upgraded or forfeited through a scheme to line the pockets of the manufacturers & rake the consumer. I'd be very wary to incorporate Vista for a few YEARS!
