These are both 'mobile' processors and are in laptops. I've found something online that says that the Athlon actually runs at 1.6 GHz if wired up a certain way and I know that the Celeron is a low end spec....

My old company laptop has the Athlon and my new one has the Celeron and I am worried that it won't actually be any faster. Has my company bought me a lower spec machine?

I just bought a comp, with 5 sata conncection and 1 ide channel.
I have 1 sata harddisk and 1 dvd burner on the ide channel. I have set the jumper to slave for the dvd. MOBO is MSI P965 Neo.

On boot up, the cpu cannot detect the ide drive during the ide devices phase, but later displays ODD0: DVD RW DRU820A.

I am unable to boot up with a start up disk in this drive either.
BIOS does not detect the dvd drive.
This is a new computer which was just self assembled

I've tried going into Control Panel to try and fix it from there, but it just tells me that everythings fine.

my keyboard wouldn't type in these letters (didn't type anything):

qwerty

last night the keys typed in these letters instead:

xcvbnm

why has this happened? is it something i have pressed on the keyboard or is there a fault? how can i fix it? i dont have the spare money for a new keyboard!

please help.. thanks

I am trying to burn dvd's but my pc keeps crashing half way through!! I suspect its my graphics card its only 64mb geforce. I am running windows Vista and it dos not meet the requirements for the dvd burning built in either. Do i need to upgrade my card and to what?? what would be the minimum required for good dvd burning.I have an athalon XP2400 with 1GB ram.

ive never had any real friends unfortunatley, and have great difficulty making any. i live on my own. and im very lonely. i fear it will always be this way. i have inner rage problems to. impules to lash out, when im havin an outburst. i really feel people and life have damaged me, i was victimised alot in my past, bullied throughout high school. i was sexually abused to as a kid. i wonder how im ever gonna find happiness, and a life. a girlfriend. a job. my own home. security. i have a destination, but i dont have a road map. i live in a small flat with not alot of possessions. my biggest problem however amoungst other distressing symptoms like racing thoughts, is my very low self worth. i dont feel capable of being loved, wanted or liked by anyone. i feel i have nothing goin for me. nothing to offer. except a mentally ill mind, and a vault load of bitterness and rage..which no girl wants. i have a criminal record to, which i feels ruined my life..how will i be able to achieve the

after booting up the pc gets to just before loading windows (xp) then crashes and sits there with a black screen. the screen goes on stand by to. After a short time it may restart.

I tried running ubuntu on it to same problem dosnt get very far before the pc dies.

Anyone got any ideas?

About 3 months ago i bought a Dell Dimension e520 with a Pentium D 805 dual core processor......i know quite a bit about computers but not too much about the inside hardware in them, anyways i want to know if i can upgrade my processor to a Core 2 Duo E6300? I have asked Dell if my motherboard supports it and they said yes because my mobo supports dual core, but you know how dell is (they will just tell you anything) Are they correct? sooooo, any advice on if i can upgrade or not..............Thanx alot

They tell me I need a new Ethernet Card. They being at&t over the phone after I gave them my ip address. They assessed that just with that info! Can I test the ethernet card before I buy? There is a ? mark near ethernet when I check in "Devices". I think maybe I just need to download a driver!

Why is the "2.13GHz" so much more expensive? Arent they both two processors?

I recently purchased a 1GB USB Flash Drive. I have been unable to find any software that does what I want. I am looking for something that will password protect the whole drive! All of the software I have seen allows me to create password protected files on the drive, but does not allow me to protect the complete drive. What matters to me is the drive itself not so much the info on it. If the drive is lost right now all of the data can be deleted and the finder now has a brand new drive. What would be best is software that will lock the drive and disable any means of editing, transferring, or erasing information on the drive. The flash drive is a sandisk cruzer micro 1GB. I also have U3 software on it (came with it) which allows me to run programs off it (firefox, etc...) so I need something that is compatible. Any ideas or suggestions would be very much appreciated! Oh one last thing that happens to be very important, the software has to be free or at least come with a trial!
