Mark,
You should have studied reports about Vista before you made the jump. Although your PC is just fast enough to run Vista, your video card is probably crippling your performance. You didn't list the model, but if it's only 64MB, I'm guessing it's more than 4 years old (too old for Vista). The video card matters to Vista because of the eye-candy effects that this version of Windows uses.

With that said, the video card has nothing to do with DVD burning. When you make a DVD the CPU, RAM, and burner are really the only components being stressed. The video card has very little to do with the process. But I suspect because Vista is stressing your PC to begin with, it's interfering with the burn.

----------UPDATE-----------
Although "lush" (post below) may be right in older PC's, that is not the case in newer ones. Any PC that runs near or above 2.0GHz should be able to burn a CD or DVD with other low-intensive apps like your anti-virus running in the background. At least this was the case with Windows 2000 and XP. Vista, like I've already mentioned, might be too much for your hardware and is the real source of your issues.

Vista still has some bugs, there might be an issue with its compatability with your drive manufacturer. On the other hand, if it is always screwing up 1/2 way through than it might be when it is trying to write the second layer of data. I would try bumping down the burners write speed. This will cause less errors to happen and ensure a successful burn. Start burning with a low speed and work your way up until you have a happy medium.

Also, make sure your burner is burning at the correct speed reccomended on the disk.

you've an Intel integrated pics adapter. those are sub-customary adapters and are not designed for 3D gaming. there is not something you may do short of shopping for a private computer or pc with a proper high quality video card put in, as this card is integrated into your motherboard.

a good tip when burning dvd's is to turn of all other applications, including any anti-virus software, as that can cause your pc to crash
