I've tried going into Control Panel to try and fix it from there, but it just tells me that everythings fine.

restart your pc... make sure it is plugged in...

test to see if it works by pressing the caps locks or the num locks, and see if the light on the keyboard lights up.. if it doesnt then your keyboard has a fault or the wire maybe loose...

if it does... restart your pc and see if it works,... if your using windows 98, then try finding a driver for the keyboard and try installing that...

Try lifting the keyboard up and taking 5 steps backwards if the keyboard comes with you there's your answer.

This may sound obvious but I have know people to plug their keyboard into the mouse port. Check if this applies.
Otherwise, the kb may be faulty, or your PC's kb socket may be faulty.
