I have recently chosen all of the hardware and components for my new tower. I have triple checked over the compatability of all the hardware but i am still unsure. Can someone please look at the following items for me & tell me (if any) problems may occur with the hardware or power and also what necessary items/components i am missing (excluding optical drives).

My MacBook Pro slows down sometimes when I'm running photoshop CS3 or when I try to open the dashboard. Is it because I need more memory or is the processor the constraint (2GHz Intel CoreDuo, 1GB RAM)? I'd like to put in more memory... I'm wondering how difficult this is, if the kind of memory I buy matters (brand? quality?), how much I can put in to max it out (is it 2GB or 3GB?) and if it will void my AppleCare warranty if I do it myself. THANKS!

Well, after fixing my tearing problem with my video card (new power supply) i ran into a new problem, very high cpu usage, i have a P4 3.20 GHz processor, 2gigs of RAM and im lagging as i type this right now, with no processes open that arent required, no programs in the backround but internet explorer. it goes up and down on the chart and when i open, say, WoW it goes to 100 and lags really bad when normally i get 70 FPS it gets 5-10. i have defragged, system scanned, registry repair, virus scan, spyware scan and removal yet none of those have fixed my problem. unfortunately im coming to the conclusion its my CPU but hopefully someone can point me in a diffrent direction so i dont have to RMA it.

I have an old Compaq Presario with Windows 98 SE Installed. We only use it for home files, games etc. Now, it will not turn on or off using the button...It has to be unplugged and then when plugged in, the green light comes on the computer and I get the Compaq logo and a blinker line on the monitor screen. I've tried the dummy buttons alt, ctrl, del and the Compaq Restore (and the Windows disk) , and I've tried typing on the dos screen (if thats what it is) but nothing at all happens other than the whirring sound of the cds. Could the button be stuck or has it kicked the bucket. If so, where can unusable pcs be taken and will anyone be able to access my info on the hard drive? Sorry so many questions...any help is appreciated!

I know I have AGP slots cause my vid card is using one..but I'm wondering if it has PCI-Express slots as well.

I read that you can find out your make/model number of your motherboard by going to the Device Manager in the Control Panel of Windows. I tried but I saw a whole bunch of things like IEE Controller, AGP bus, etc.

Does the mother board have another name for it? What is it listed under in the Device Manager part of Windows?

thanks

I recently installed a second SATA hard drive in my PC (not sure what motherboard it is...it's a recent Dell PC and I know for a fact it takes up to 3 more SATA hard drives).

I've changed the settings in the BIOS so it reads the second hard drive (I tested it without the connection, and I know I'm on the right track there) but I can't see it in 'my computer' on the desktop.

I CAN see it when I go into 'control panel' >> systems >> device manager, but I can't see it in 'My Computer'.

Also, it says the device IS working properly. So I'm not sure what the problem is - or why I can't see it next to the C drive in 'My computer'. Any thoughts? Many thanks in advance. Sham.
