i am bulding a pc ..going to use it for hardcore gaimg ..i know that most of depends on video card..but still need a good CPU for it ..
here are two CPU's that i am going to get ..please tell me which is better and why ..?

1..Intel Pentium D, 945, Socket 775, Presler Core, 2x3.4 GHz, 2x 2MB Cache, Retail (£105)

2..Intel Core 2 Duo E6300, Socket 775, 1.86 GHz, 1066MHz FSB, Allendale Core, 2MB Cache, Retail

I installed an used drive from an old pc that has some info on it that i want. All my hardware sees the drive, including hardware manager, but I can not read the drive for my old files. I use windows xp pro sp2 and my system is a dell dimension 8100

I hear no sound when I play music on my computer, I don't get any sound when I play any comp. games either. I updated my sound driver, and I switched speakers, checked the connection, but nothing of tha sort was wrong, I looked in the cntrol panel under sounds and audio devices to see if I had the sound muted or lowered, it wasn't, I have no idea what could be wrong with my sound, anyone else have a clue?

i know that Pentium 4 945 Dual Core "LGA775 Presler" 3.4GHz (800FSB) will use more energy and heat ..what if i giving more its need and cooling well ..which CPU IS better for ..gaming pc ( i know that video card needs to be good as )..

I have a 2001 Emachines W2060:
- AMD 2000 +
- 256 MB (224)
- S3 ProSavage (available AGP slot)
- 60 GB Hard Drive

The only games I have ever played on my PC are some really good older titles, like Star Craft, Command and Conquer:Tiberian Sun, Empire Earth, and the only 3D game I have ever played on it is Warcraft III. My computer seemed to handle that game pretty well, so is there any chance that Rome:Total War would work on my outdated PC?

the reason was not ram. the reason is i download a lot of music & my hard drive capacity is 3/4 full already. so space is the problem.

When I first boot up my computer, I'm finding that the first program I open will have sound enabled, but any other programs I open after the first won't have sound (no matter the program). When I try clicking on the sound icon, it says that I have no mixer devices enabled, which I'm sure I do. Could this be a virus? How can I fix this?

My desktop computer is seeing the router no problem but when I try to add my NEC laptop with intel centrino processor I am unable to do it it also does not see it when I seach for networks. Is there anything I need to turn on on either the router or the laptop? or is there something else i need to do?

I tried to install but could not succeed.Computer recognises external hard disk as an usb device and installation process starts in external hard disk .. but after installation is over, computer do not boot with xp installed in the hard disk.
My internal harddisk got corrupted and my computer does not recognises it!!
presently i am using knoppix live cd.Also have made an image of live cd in hard disk.But i want to use windows xp.
what should i do??
please help me out!!!!

It's very important I install better drivers, because the resolution with the Standard drivers that come with Windows 98 SE is very poor and the colours are also poor...

My c drive will not change its attributes

every time i go onto properties and un-select read-only and i close it, when i re-open it its still read only

i have tried booting into safe mode and setting drive security and nothing seems to happen

Some of my applications are not working because of this problem
