They used to have MacPaint, and I think AppleWorks has a simple paint-like program inside. But unfortunately I don't think they include a simple stripped-down editing program like that in the Mac OS now a days. I've heard there are some things you can download though.

People who whine about MS Paint and call it "inferior" are missing the point. First of all, it's a program that comes free with the OS, so of course it's not going to be as good as some separate program you have to buy (which you have to do on a mac anyway). But if you just want a simple stripped down graphics program for simple tasks (screen captures, quick jpg making, etc.), that also hardly takes up any memory, MS Paint does the job fine.

You love your Paint application... (eeeeesh). First let me tell you there are far better options for your PC, one of my favorites is Paint.net. http://getpaint.net/ there are others but that is my favorite to replace Paint (which sucks).

For your Mac you can't get Paint.net but it would be really cool if you could. For the Mac you can get GimpShop (which is also available for your PC, http://plasticbugs.com/?page_id=294 (Mac link) or http://plasticbugs.com/?p=300 (Windows Version)

I should note that I'm not sure if GimpShop is a universal binary (it probably is but I'm not sure).
