suppose my laptop dies on me. would i be able to take that LCD screen, take it off the laptop and use it as a secondary screen for my PC ? if so, what extra parts would it take ?
is there a website for this kind of stuff ?

It's technically possible, but would take more custom electrical work and soldering than you'd probably want to spend time or money on.

Generally speaking, used laptop screens, depending on condition, fetch good money on eBay.

The show will be completely bumped off yet once you've not at all dabbled with dismantling laptops earlier then i do not advise you commence with this project. yet another option is to purchase a usb keyboard and mouse and modify the means settings (administration panel - means settings) so as that final the show has no action linked with it. you should do this after attaching the replace computer screen. The results of that is that you'll activate the computer, change to exterior computer screen utilizing a Fn keypress and then close the lid. Your exterior mouse, keyboard and computer screen then take over. This effectively makes the computer right into a tiny computer computer.

Yeah, my cousin just told me last night that his laptop screen went out and he somehow hooked it up to another PC screen. I'm not computer savvy so unfortunately, I cannot help you other than to answer your first question based on what my cousin said. you would have to have some kind of controller for it to work. it isn't worth messing with. also, depending on the laptop, you may find cheap parts to fix it on ebay.

It is possible, i was going to do it in my truck, but after i reviewed all of the options I figured out it was way too expensive.
