My desktop was running very slow, so i opened the task manager and clicked the "Performance" tab and it shows the "CPU Usege" meter is at 100% (A graph indicating the percentage of time the processor is working. This counter is a primary indicator of processor activity.). There is no task listed that could be responsible for this neether. What could be causeing it to do that?

I just got a computer and on the front it says DVD + RW. I know RW is re-writable but does that mean I can download movies off the internet and place them on a blank disc and watch them later or is that a different thing?

Anyone here had the same problem b4? I have a desktop computer from MDG (Windows XP Home Edition/SP 1) and after reformatting it, there's no more sound. In "Device Manager", the following devices have the yellow question mark beside it: Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, SM Bus Controller, and Video Controller (VGA Compatible). I couldn't find any software/CDs for any of them.
Anyone here who can tell me how to fix them?

I have a Dell Dimension 4600C with Windows XP Home Edition, SP2. As soon as my computer starts up, I get the message "Performing automatic IDE configuration" and then after several seconds, I get a message saying this has completed but that I need to set the time and date. Once I complete this, my computer then continues to boot up normally. The major issue is, I have to set the time and date *every time* I turn on the computer because of the automatic IDE configuration message. I have contacted Dell several times about this, they had no clue, I have looked for a solution online, to no avail. I feel deep down as if this is probably a simple problem that most likely involves the changing of some setting I don't know about but, of course, I am no expert, so I can't be sure. I think some people I have asked just automatically assume this is a complicated problem..........anyways, if somebody could help me with this nuisance/problem, I would be forever grateful! Thanks in advance!

I recently bought a small wireless camera and receiver but the receiver was damaged, I was thinking that since my laptop has WiFi that perhaps it might be able to work on the 2.4GHz band and work like a receiver. I guess that would require a program to display the signal data, much like a tv emulator. Has anyone seen a program that might enable this? I've had a look around but I can't seem to find much at all! :) Thanks in advance!

P.S. If 2.4GHz isn't possible, out of curiosity, does anyone know if any other camera frequencies might be possible?

I recently bought an ATI Raedeon 9200 AGP video card for my PC. I am good with computers and can't figure out why my computer reboots when I play World of Warcraft. First I thought it was the card and returned it for another one. Same problem. Then I thought it was the power supply so first I bought a 400 watt and tonight i just put a 500 watt one in there and same problem. I have downloaded and tried every combination of drivers (including the correct ones!) WTF!? Some people tell me to look in BIOS other people tell me never to touch BIOS because this card is plug and play. Please help I'm going insane.

I have a hp pavilion with a Pioneer dvr-k16 ver 1.15 dvd/cd burner. It was working fine until this Saturday. At around 10pm I burned a cd and then the next morning I tried to burn a dvd and couldn’t get the computer to recognize the blank dvd. Then I tried a movie dvd and it would not recognize it either. The computer is running windows xp home 2002. I have tried updating the driver, uninstalling the drive and reinstalling, and loading new drivers from the net. Nothing has helped. About the same time this happened I had loaded a cd-emulator program, about 2 days before the problem, I also experienced a virus attack at that same time. Avast killed the virus and system is back to normal except for the dvd-drive. The device manager shows the drive and says it is working ok. When I manually open sonic dvd burning program it sees the drive and can tell if a blank disc is in it or not, but when I try and burn it says that there is not enough free space on it.

Any cd or dvd I put in the drive does not autoplay. But the drive spins.

I tried updating the firmware but it says it cannot find the target.

The driver file details listed are as follows: cdrom.sys, imapi.sys, redbook.sys and storprop.dll.

Mainly their Video cards. I'm thinking about getting one of theirs for $100. It seems like a good mid-range card, Radeon X1300 256MB AGP. It has pixel and shader 3. The ATI x1300 pro is $130 and is virtuilly the same. What do you think? is the ATI worth the extra $30?

Im looking to play Company of Heroes with it. I'm used to having the crappiest performance with the crappiest quality so i'm not looking to buy the greatest and expensive, just something to hold me down.
What are you using and what kind of performance are you getting out of it? Any advice? Any quick lessons for me? Is crucial a good company to go to?

If I press " it comes up as @, and vice versa. I looked on google and found a site which said to go into control panel, keyboard, and change the language to English UK, but there is no option for this. I went into the languages section and changed it from English USA to English UK, but it hasn't made any difference. Any other ideas?

O.K. First off I wish to know what exactly RAM is. Does this RAM increase the speed of my computer? If I wanted to increase it how do i do that and what exactly should i buy? What does a processor do?? Does this increase the speed of my computer. I want to know this because I have the Sims 2 game and it calls for 256 mb of RAM and i have that much but it is slow and pauses alot. I want it to run smoothly with little or no pauses whatsoever.
