I'm thinking of using our tax return to buy a new laptop to replace my regular desktop PC. I don't do much, mainly get on the internet and game alittle bit. But nothing too intense (I don't have time for WOW or any of those games) So, I have a few questions.

Is it safe to leave a laptop plugged in all the time?

Will I be able to do all the things with a laptop that I do with a desktop?

What is a good and affordable brand/model (links would be helpful) for what I plan to use it for? I don't really want to spend tooooo much.

a few days earlier, even as i can recall my pc used to get a comparatively higher speed(i use dial up connection), but nowadays i am finding that even at same dial up kbps, it has become slower. my ram is 256. can anybody help me?

Both my pc and my 360 use my monitor through VGA cables. I'm sick of switching cables every time I switch consoles, is there some sort of splitter/adapter that lets me have both plugged in at once and flick a switch when I want to change (like in the good old days with the console/av switcher)?

I've recieved a warning, twice now that says I'm low on vital memory and when I went into My Computer and clicked on DISE_BACKUP (D:), it says I only have 14.7mb of free space available, what do I do? I have a WD external hard drive, but I honestly do not really know if it will help or how. Someone please help me!

I have a installed a new drive to try and solve this, but it still keeps stopping half way through writing disks saying either I have "I/O error" or "device was ejected incorrectly".
Could this be a cable problem or somthing more serious?

I have bought a Asus external DVDRW, well it's an internal but it is in one of those drive cases made by Q-Tec. I have installed the case driver and I have also the latest drivers for the DVDRW. I have reinstalled, cleaned the lens, tried it on other PCs and laptops, tried many kinds of CD-R and DVD-R/+R, everything possible and it does not burn, it just reads. It does start to burn but then it stops suddenly and I have to switch the drive off. And yes it does say DVDRW on it and the PC regognises it as this with or without drivers. What's going wrong? If it helps I am using XP.

Your enjoying watching news or advertise movie, Suddenly, the video just stop or pause in a minute, but the audio is contenously working. It's irritating sometimes cause the video and the audio just won't jive. Do i need to upgrade my CPU? if yes, what kind hardware will I purchase. OR is it my broadband connection that has the problem? PLS HELP.

Im a gamer...I like to run heavy games on my computer....The games I play for example...(Oblivion,FEAR,Crbon,BF2,etc..)..I notice that I cant play any of these games in a resultion higher than 800x600...and the best FPS I get is 20 outdoors in oblivion as example...(high textures//2x AA// HDR off// AF off)...what I want to ask is there any pronlems in my system??

now when I play a video it is all messed up looking. It happens when I play videos over the internet and on the one I downloaded from my camera. The video images now resemble the images from a heat detecting camera just red, yellow, and green. What happened, what can i do?

i ran registry booster, and i think it deleted chkdsk. now, whenever i try to defrag my HD, Disk Defragmenter says:

"disk defragmenter has detected the chkdsk is scheduled to run on (c:) Please run chkdsk."
and now chkdsk doesn't work. PLZ HELP!!!

comp toast. any way to get files off old hard drive. woult it work to install drive in different comp, start up and transfer files. didnt do a back up on picts and miscd things
