If I press " it comes up as @, and vice versa. I looked on google and found a site which said to go into control panel, keyboard, and change the language to English UK, but there is no option for this. I went into the languages section and changed it from English USA to English UK, but it hasn't made any difference. Any other ideas?

Change your keyboard settings to English (United Kingdom) rather than English (US)

For XP
Go to control panel, Regional & Language Options, Regional Options tab: Set format to English (United Kingdom) & Location to United Kingdom.
Under Languages tab: Click Details button->settings tab->default input language set to English United Kingdom
Installed services, click "add button" choose Input & keyboard as English United Kingdom.

I agree. That has bothered me. But I have just conformed and gone with $.52 or $0.52. There may be a way. In Microsoft Word - Go up to INSERT, select SYMBOL, then surf through the offereing for the cents sign. There are multiple menus. Once you have used it it will be up-front in your "frequently used symbols" section. I think I have even looked for it but gave up. I use other symbols a lot. Word Processors other than WORD surely have something similar. If you really care... you could probably search and search and get a custom keyboard that has it as a key. Why was it dropped? It didn't make the cut, I guess. Not enough people care. Esp. since there is the alternate way, $0.52 is pretty easy to do instead.

Suggest you get a new keyboard, or try and find keyboard settings in control panel and change a few settings to see what happens.

You've got it set up as American.............. click Start > Control Panel > Regional & Language Options. Then find the setting - and select 'English (UK)'. That'll fix it!
