I am looking at the new Intel Core 2 Duo, but Intel says the XEON is a server processor instead. Also, my eyes couldn't help staring at the AMD dual-core Opteron. Can I really use the Core 2 Duo as a server processor? Why does Intel tell me that its a "desktop" processor?
I'm looking to have two processors by the way.

Depending on what's showing on my screen it gets more or less intense, sort of like a static noise. It's driving me nuts.

I think it is something partswise, but how do I fix, short of letting someone charge me $200 to run a virus scan, then more for the actual problem? System was slowing down, then unresponsive, then dead, but why would software problem cause mouse to overheat?

A real good quality for a small 10 x 11 room. I don't need it to be loud, just loud enough for me to hear in my room.

By the way, can you tell me the watts given off by the basic speakers that come with most computers so that i can compare the two.

How much abuse can it take if it were to fall or get hit? I just want to know for future reference so that I know what level of caution I should have.

So heres the deal, I got a nice laptop from my friend for free because he broke the sound card's line out (he's a DJ) and I was wondering if it is possible to turn the microphone input into a line out by changing some sort of setting / installing software, or am I going to have to pull it apart and re-solder it back together (last resort because I tried this already and its hard because of the way they packed it in there its almost impossible to get to)?

Is the sound card i have good enough for a 5.1 surround sound system.

Here is what i can tell you about it.

Emachines : 512RAM, 100GB

DEVICE
Name : Realtek AC97 Audio
Type : WDM

DRIVERS
Name : ALCXWDM.SYS
Version : 5.10.0000.5900 (English)

If not, then how can i tell if it is or not, or what do i need if it isn't. Also if it isn't, then how much will it cost.

I have a whole gig of ram and almost nothing on my hard drive. I do updates and defrag i also scan for viruses and adware + spyware and it almost never finds anything and when it does i take care of the problem. I also check the hard drive for issues. I dont understand why it goes so slow. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas to help me with this issue.
