I'm trying to install a new hard drive but I can't set it up because my BIOS is protected. Is there a way to install a new BIOS or bypass the password? I can't boot from either floppy or CD.

Reads 208 GB. Do I need to switch something or will it automatically switch when needed. I know I should have plenty of space, but the space is divided. How does this work and what if anything do I need to do?

what i mean to say is that for a hard disk the access times are different for different portions of hard disk, and hence depending upon the locations of individual fragments of a file the total read time of a file is decided [because the read head has to move here and there]. but i believe that in case of flash memory, the access time of any section is same since it is solid state with no moving part. hence i believe that fragmentation should not be having effect on flash memory

Does above Win XP version support 64bit processing?
The laptop I'm lookin says It's MS Vista Capable. I kno Vista is a 64 bit OS. So is this a 64 bit machine?

How does running 64bit applications in this machine affect, performance wice? is it better to stick in to 32bit applications or is it really ok to go 64bit on this machine?

Several days ago i attached my usb flash memory to one of my usb 2.0 availables port in my computer, but suddenly my computer restarted and when the windows was running again,i found out that my flash memory drive is not available in my computer. then i found that the sound device does not work too.
I thought some thing should be wrong with my drivers.as both my usb 2.0 and sound device are onboard i used my mainboard cd to install the drivers . after several times of installing the drivers i found that the problem is not solveable using this way.so i decided to format c drive and install a new copy of windows xp os but it also didn't solve my problem.it seems that my computer is encountered with some hardware problems but windows detect and install usb 2.0 properly and this contradict with hardware failure.
additionally i have used a few updated anti virus softwares to look for viruses , but i didn't find anything.
Does any one knows what is the problem and how can i solve it ?

OK. I have a year old Dell Dimension 8400. It works fine...except that it deleted my CD & DVD drive. When I pop in a DVD or CD nothing happens. And when I go to My Computer it only shows my Local Disk (C:)

I really miss playing my games and movies on this, and I was wondering if anyone can help me get my drives back? I've tried going to Divice Manager and uninstalling and trying to reinstall. But I get a code 32 when I try, and says divice is curropted or missing.

Anyways, if anyone can help me with this problem, would be great! Or if someone could tell me how to restore it factory new so I can have my drives back. Obviously I can't use the Restore CD's since CD's don't work in this thing.

Please help!

Hello,

I recently purchased a 320GB External Hard Drive, and was wondering, if it will be damaged in ANY way if i keep it constantly on, but turn it off during the night.

Many thanks,

***please read the WHOLE question before replying. if i get a bunch of links to the windows update website i'm going to go reach through your monitor and shake points out of your ears! ***

i am trying to install some ATI software for my video card and it won't install one of the components because i have framework 1.1 and not 2.0. the drivers are right from ATI's website and were posted just last month, so i guess theoretically at least they are new and therefore built for the newer framework?

i'm worried about some of the posts i read that said 2.0 would slow me down gaming. i bought this video card to improve my gaming so the last thing i want to do is hurt it. i have a p4/2.8ghz.

i am hoping to hear from folks who are gamers and who have installed 2.0. i can't imagine ATI would put forth the effort to release new drivers and then cripple them with the 2.0 requirement.

any advice? thanks!!!
