***please read the WHOLE question before replying. if i get a bunch of links to the windows update website i'm going to go reach through your monitor and shake points out of your ears! ***

i am trying to install some ATI software for my video card and it won't install one of the components because i have framework 1.1 and not 2.0. the drivers are right from ATI's website and were posted just last month, so i guess theoretically at least they are new and therefore built for the newer framework?

i'm worried about some of the posts i read that said 2.0 would slow me down gaming. i bought this video card to improve my gaming so the last thing i want to do is hurt it. i have a p4/2.8ghz.

i am hoping to hear from folks who are gamers and who have installed 2.0. i can't imagine ATI would put forth the effort to release new drivers and then cripple them with the 2.0 requirement.

any advice? thanks!!!

Yeah, the ATI Multimedia software requires .NET 2.0. As far as slowing down your pc, .NET will not do that. I think there is .NET 3.0 out now.

It is always recommended you have the latest windows updates.

Alrighty so what you're going to want to do is go to Windows Update and let it...

Okay so in all seriousness, I'm a gamer and have the .NET 2.0 Framework and I haven't seen any impact on gaming performance whatsoever. If your new video card drivers require it, then download it.

I have installed .net framework 2.0 on 200+ computers and haven't had any issues that you describe.

Install it if your ATI video card requires it. Judging by the clockspeed of your processor, it shouldn't slow you down that much, if at all.

That's a good question. If the card requires it then I don't see as you have much choice. I've got it and it's not slowing me down any .
Cheers..

Ya it's ok, go ahead and install 2.0. You have to have it or you won't get your drivers downloaded. "PEACE"
