i heard that the battery life will be reduced if we use laptop continuously

it was working fine yesterday.... i've gone to turn it on today and after the inital 'toshiba' sign loading on the screen i'm just getting a blank screen.
attempted to get into bios but it doesn't work and after pressing esc a few times i'm getting a beep everytime i press a key.
ecause the toshiba sign is coming up like normal it makes me think it's not the graphics card died, or the screen.
it's connected to AV power aswell which means its not the battery cutting out.

Hello all...I want to know the price of a laptop in Sheffield, England...It can be of general specifications and it need not be branded...an assembled one will do...The specifications are : 2.1 GHz Intel processor, 80 GB HDD, 256 MB RAM, DVD R/W Combo Drive etc etc...and I want to buy a new laptop...and not a used one...This information will be very much helpful to me to decide whether to buy a laptop in Sheffield or in Dubai, which is the transit for me when I fly from India to Manchester...Thank You and have a nice day!

For what it's worth, it's a Thinkpad T42. I want to be sure that I can use it with no problems in Europe, and that the AC adapter doesn't blow out like it did on my Vaio last time. Beyond that, cheaper is better, all else being equal. Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

I got my labtop on Craigslist and my battery recently has been dying out in less thatn 15 minutes when its not connected to the power outlet. I'm wondering wether to buy a new battery or fix the settings on my labtop. Any suggestions on what I can do to extend the life of my battery. I have a DELL INSPIRON 600m. I love my labtop and wish it could run longer on battery. Thanks for you help

area? I think you plug it in to the usb port, and push up a wee ariel thing, and you can connect as if by mobile phone. I'm not making this up - i have seen them! What are they called, and where can i buy one? What kind of cost are they? I'm in the UK, and would like to use it in the highlands of Scotland.

I have a file that someone downloaded and i cant get rid of it! i have tried deleting it and moving it but it wont do anything. i went on properties to see if its a read only file but its not. its not checked. what is it and how do i delete it? do i need to completely wipe my computer just to get rid of one file? is it a virus if it doesnt delete? please help! its really annoying me!! please give simple instructions lol thanks! x

I am a student and I'm looking for a notebook that is going to last me and provide all the lil neat personal stuff too( photos, account managing), I get a discount from Dell from my school but I want to know why is mac better, and if not which one is best. I need less chance of getting infected, wireless access, and a long list of of college programs I am going to put on my desktop.I'm not trying to spend over 1800 if I can help it. I just want user/software friendly comp. that I can keep till I finish my Doc.

I have a Sony Vaio (PCG-GRZ610) that worked just fine yesterday. Today when I goes to turn it on, nothing happens. The screen is black, I can hear the fan running, but nothing else. When I press the power button both battery indicator lights flash but that is all. I don't know if the system board is dead or what. As of now alls I get is a green "power on" indicator light, and flashing battery lights if whenever I press the power key. Again, I can hear the fan running but that's it. Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Im planning to buy a laptop, and can't figure out which one to get. It's between two. the apple mac (the white one, 1GB ram, 80 GB hard drive) OR the sony VAIO, (FJ series, the sky blue one) So which one do you think i should get?
