if you correctly install XP there should not be a 2000 install left. My suggestion would be to backup all needed data and boot from the windows xp cd. During the install you will be given the option to repartition your drives. do so which wipes the system. You can then continue with a fresh XP install.

If you have a entry to windows 2000 (after installing on top of, or replacing it in the setup) then your .ini file might be pointing to it.
BOOT.INI
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
Just delete the link where it says windows 2000.
However if you delete anything else, or it doesnt say windows 2000, then be careful because your computer WONT BOOT.

if you install windows XP it means your old OS autimatically deleted, but if you ask how to remove OS 2000, just insert your bootable disc, either CD or floopy, look for c or d then type format your system drive
