it was working fine yesterday.... i've gone to turn it on today and after the inital 'toshiba' sign loading on the screen i'm just getting a blank screen.
attempted to get into bios but it doesn't work and after pressing esc a few times i'm getting a beep everytime i press a key.
ecause the toshiba sign is coming up like normal it makes me think it's not the graphics card died, or the screen.
it's connected to AV power aswell which means its not the battery cutting out.

When you first turn the computer on does it "beep" at all? How old is this laptop? I have 2 Toshiba's and the older of the 2, you can't bring up any BIOS, but does change the boot order under the "Toshiba" name you'll see icons for the different drives, one of them is highlighted and you move the cursor with the arrow keys to a point under the drive that you want to boot up to. Only the arrow keys are allowed to move the cursor to the desired drive, if you press other keys you will hear a "beep" because their function is not allowed. The newer Toshiba does let you into the BIOS by pressing the F2 key repeatedly during the start-up of the computer. You may have mistakenly moved the cursor under a drive which you cannot boot from. Check the icons carefully and make sure that the cursor is under the hard disc icon (the one with 3 discs stacked one on top of the other) before you hit the enter key. If that doesn't work try booting up to safe mode, restart the computer and press the F8 key repeatedly, it may take a few tries to get the timing down. If you can boot to safe mode, go to your "system restore" and try that. That restores the system to last known good configuration by dates. If you loaded new software recently, and you can get into safe mode, remove the new software using add and remove software in the control panel. If none of this does it it's time to call for support, I've had to call them myself at 3am once and they responded well and got me going again. lol

Oh dear, you bought a Toshiba...

It could be anything, save yourself some time and call for tech support or try to reformat.
