This same exact thing just happened to me. The computer itself is still working, and I can use it hooked up to an external monitor. I took the thing apart and reseated the connections, as someone had told me it could be a loose connection, but still nothing. I have found other people posting about the same problem on Dell forums, but so far no solutions.

What color is the power button? green or amber? Do you gell the DELL logo screen when you boot up? are you using the VGA port or do you have a seperate video card?

sounds like video card or video driver problems, did you try to boot in safe mode, you may have loaded a program that changed your video driver, I don't think its the drive , cause if it was you would get and error and possibly be asked to check bios setup, Your seeing nothing so its video related. read your manual
