The laptop has got many ports: USB, VGA, DVI, but no parallel. Is there any adaptor that could solve this issue?

Basically, I just need something simple, not too high tech. Something suitable for college. My budget is about under $1000.

I just got a new Dell Inspiron e1505. The packing slip says it has Windows XP Pro. I was always laboring under the impression that on start up, it would say Windows XP Professional rather than Windows XP only...but maybe I'm wrong. Is there any way I can be sure I got the Professional? Thanks in advance!

I bought a Dell Inspiron e1505 with Intel core duo processor T1050 (2mb/1.6 GHz/533MHz), 100 gb hard drive 5400RPM, 1 gb memory DDR2 533Mhz 2 Dimm, 15.4 inch screen with truelife, cd/dvd burner, windows xp professional, microsoft works, 9-cell lithium ion battery, 2 year warranty, laser printer, lock, flash drive, surge protector, and mouse.

It cost 1400 dollars.

Did I get a good deal? I don't know much about laptops (or computers in general). Should I have gotten Microsoft Office?

NOTE: I'm going to college in a month, this was close to what my school suggested, a bit better though.

Thanks for your thoughts!

They don't check credit, just pay a weekly/monthly fee. Maybe a refurbished or returned one ok...just relatively new comp/laptop...

The status says "order processed" but it also says (underneath) what the production date is. What does that mean? Thing is that the production date since this morning has consistently been exactly an hour before the time I check it. Is Dell just messing with me?

My computer has the brave sentry virus and it won't leave.
I have had enough.
I want my computer to go back to the way it was the first day I got it.

I tried system restore.
But it was nowhere to be found!
I ran a search for it and everything.

Don't recommend me using ad-aware SE Personal.
Every time I try and use it, it freezes on a certain file.
I have tried several other virus removal programs, and NONE work.

I have a Dell SmartStep 250N. First, I got an "Operating System Not Found" message. A little later, the screen was completely blank on start up. I bought a new hard drive and RAM and installed them. Now when I start it up, the power lights come on and the fan spins and the DVD Drive will pop out if I press the button, but the screen is completely blank and there are no sounds. If I press cap lock the light doesn't light up. What's the problem and what can I do to fix it?

I'm going on holiday for a couple of weeks, leaving my laptop behind with a friend. He's not going to use it, so should I take the battery out? Are there any other precautions I should take, or will it be fine to leave it unused for 2 weeks? It is only 20 days old so I want to take care of it! :)

Thanks in advance,

Joe

I spilled Pepsi on my laptop! Now my Toshiba Satellite M45-S165 won,t work, help tech savvy people!?
All I can get is a black screen with white lettering.
towards the end it says:

Mouse Initialized
ERROR
Resource conflict-PCI Network Controller in slot 03 BUS: 02, Device: 07 Function:00

to load defaults (doesn't work when I try it)
to set up (brings up a screen with alot of stuff, I'm afraid to mess with)

Oh, and yes most of the pepsi got underneath the mouse buttons, and some on the keybaord!

Your help would be appreciated!
